A fellow that used to drink at the same bar I did had his jaw wired shut (well deserved) and I would say no. The only way he could drink beer was through a straw or pour a little sip between his lips and teeth and then strain it in through his teeth. The only saving grace was that a beer lasted for hours.
Thanks, you reminded me of what I heard long ago that an atom bomb was needed to set off a hydrogen bomb. It is what sets the lithium fuel off. The fusion process allow the less fissile u-238 to be used as fuel for the bomb.
Depleted Uranium has had the highly fissionable isotopes removed leaving only u-238 which I think is almost valueless as a fuel. When used as an anti tank projectile it leaves behind a toxic dust which kills mostly by heavy metal poisoning, although I think some radiation cancers are caused by u-238 dust inhaled into the lungs. U-238 by itself has a four and a half billion year half life.
Actually, Gilmore opted for the firing squad in the mistaken belief that the state would not get enough people to volunteer for the squad and that the state would not be able to execute him. Thousands volunteered and nearly half stated in their application that they would be happy to bring their own rifle and ammunition. Gilmore was a dumbass but I thank him for giving me for the best laugh that month, and thank you dwarfo for reminding of that story.
Your post reminds me of the best thing I ever saw in Illinois. The legislature doubled its pay and the governor signed it into law. The voters were so angry that by initiative ballot they amended the state constitution to cut the size of the state legislature by one-third. Unfortunately, the legislature has since changed the law and now has approval ability to stop such initiatives. But, the change stood up to challenge in the courts and a third of the legislature is still gone, HAR HAR!
Miners should learn to code but biden should learn some words that will become important in his next job. They are “ would you like fries with that , sir.”
