JOE ALLOWAY PREDICTED WINNER OVER PAVLOV IN MICHIGAN 81 –POLL: JOE ALLOWAY’S EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE BEATS OUT PHIL PAVLOV

PORT HURON, MI, July 26, 2004 (NEWSWIRE) -- The latest poll of voters in this crucial MichiganState House swing District 81 has Joe Alloway-R (Port Huron Township) the predicted winner over St. Clair’s Phil Pavlov, and Yale’s Steve Pray with a greater than 9-percent margin. The poll of 600 likely Republican voters in St. Clair County Michigan’s State Representative District 81 countywide found Alloway with a solid lead with Education, Experience and USMC background over underqualified Phil Pavlov-R (St. Clair).

“Pavlov just does not have the experience, college or education… Alloway’s my choice to do the work this area needs in Lansing”, said Robert Newell of St. Clair Township.

Carol Whiting of Algonac said “Michigan needs legislators who represent future goals- Education and Experience are two Alloway meets over Phil Pavlov”.

With days to the August 3 primary, Democrats are “Getting Out The Vote” for Alloway too. Many Democrats worry the area economy is so bad that with Democrat Mary Patterson unopposed, they want Alloway and Patterson in an “even-matched race of experience and education” in the November general election.

Alloway is running against 14-month St. Clair County Commissioner Philip Pavlov of St. Clair Township and Steve Pray of Yale for the Republican nomination in the 81st District state House seat.

Rep. Lauren Hager, R-Port Huron Township, is being forced out by term limits.

The 81st District covers Berlin, Brockway, Casco, China, Clay, Clyde, Cottrellville, East China, Emmett, Grant, Greenwood, Kenockee, Lynn, Mussey, Port Huron, Riley and St. Clair townships; the cities of Algonac, Marine City, Marysville, St. Clair and Yale; and the St. Clair County portion of Memphis.

The Poll for service in the USMC also credited Alloway. Phil Pavlov was noted as not having a four-year college degree, or a veteran of branches of the US Military. The poll was conducted July 22-25 by PTM/UM. ### www.joealloway.com

Gannett Fails One-Newspaper Communities/Counties- Port Huron Times Herald a Queue for Government Intervention?

What happened to the emphasis of fair reporting in the print media, and mandated their mandated obligations to areas of service?

I seem to recall the day local newspapers were required to file reports confirming they complied with obligations to markets served.

In particular, with today’s concentration of all reporting medium with just a few companies- who determines the void or lack of reporting in the best interest to citizens.

I’ve challenged a Gannett newspaper, the Times Herald of Port Huron Michigan of its obligation citizens in one-newspaper counties.

The Times Herald serves citizens of St. Clair County and Sanilac County Michigan as the sole daily, nationally owned newspaper. In fact, USA Today is also published side-by-side with the Times Herald.

There appears to be an immediate need to make certain legislation be brought requiring corporate newspapers to better report news and serving the communities they cover.

At a crucial time with the 2004 Primary literally days away- this particular newspaper, as I am sure is the case across America where the public’s best interest is not served by corporations like Gannett and their papers like the Port Huron Michigan Times Herald.

I have no reason to believe the lack of reporting is politically inclined, rather just poorly staffed with editors and a weak publisher.

The Times Herald has sat on several stories, all verified and written that if reported would certainly if published, would have tremendous affects on our primary and general elections in 2004.

Is it the case our media outlets must no longer solicit reader or listener comments for submission to regulatory agencies?

With just story reported from Port Huron Michigan of the several stories held back in “blackout mode”, national media from San Jose to papers throughout the country found that story newsworthy to report.

Is it time we take serious how serious a problem America suffers with this controlled media? --------------------

  • “Facing truth—Campaign Finance Law violations in Michigan House District 81"

“GOP Candidates must talk truth when faced with it— “In response to Michigan Campaign Finance Law violations in Michigan House District 81

I’ve had some posts resulting from my post on a piece I picked off the Tony Trupiano Radio Show—its true Tony is a “flaming liberal Bush hater”.

We have an obligation to our cause to determine if what we hear is factual or an outright lie. That’s exactly what I did in regard to the allegations from the Trupiano show featuring a former Michigan state employee.

This case could not have been more important to pursue, as it involved allegations of “illegal Michigan Campaign Finance law” in my District- that’s the Michigan House of Representatives District 81.

Now to outright deny any allegation or wrongdoing by members or our party or just dismiss them as lies is wrong.

We have an obligation to seek the truth, and if so fix what is wrong. If to the contrary, as difficult as it might be, take those leveling false allegations and prove these people wrong.

The days of “blind following the blind” in the GOP must never return because I, personally won’t stand by with honor as a member of the GOP backing or perpetuating a wrong for something which is clearly right.

Case in fact is Michigan’s passing of legislation and adopting term limits for the House and Senate of three two-year terms in the House, and two four-year terms in the Senate.

We’ve found term limits really don’t work as passed and have a legitimate need to revisit this issue again in Michigan.

Unfortunately, each party continues to employee “at will political non-civil service” employees in our House Caucus Communications Office--- the Trupiano Show allegations focused on this issue.

Factually, both parties misuse the 40-50 person staffs in their caucus communications office and are guilty of hundreds of state ethics and campaign law violations.

The problem facing us is it was we, the GOP who was caught and outed through this former staffer, Mark Powell’s allegations. Powell was the caucus political operative who had been assigned as campaign manger to an incumbent GOP member of the House.

To ignore this series of allegations with facts facing GOP leadership this is true and our actions are wrong is outright irresponsible in a state--- my district alone with a 20% jobless rate.

While Michigan faces the darkest days since the 1980s its criminal to continue for us to perpetuate an antiquated practice which threatens our GOP majority in the House of Representatives- whether this be an election year or not.

Wisconsin’s Caucus Scandal is a perfect example and clone to problems now faced here in Michigan. If we are wrong, there’s no other way than to make things right and move forward.

Allowing a handful of “at-will employees” to manage and intermingle a “partisan political campaigning machine” within the legitimate need for a communications office – just can’t be tolerated in 21st Century Michigan- and, to dismiss the fact or deny this truth will bring us down.

Electronic campaign finance reporting, computerized records and public Internet access to everything is reason enough not to be honest---

I’ve asked for change by ending this intermingling of state paid employees within partisan political campaigns. The facts are its wrong, illegal, and with service cuts to the public and education in Michigan- It’s downright immoral.

Freepers, the only reason in all of this for me is keeping us above board and without question or allegations of wrongdoing. Unfortunately, we have too many people tainted through use of these tactics in their campaigns that no one wants to bring about changing what is so blatantly wrong.

Please take a moment to review what ended in disbanding this system in Wisconsin and brought indictments to dozens of legislators and staff members.

For one, I thought we’d gone beyond the ignorance of our past--- Today, if we are wrong we must admit and fix whatever necessary to cast shadow on the GOP.

Its unfortunate through term-limits we elect people who merely exchange “their realtor lapel pin for that of a legislator’s”--- this link will help you understand through the mistakes of Wisconsin’s leadership: http://www.wisdc.org/caucusjointcomplaint.htm

    Thank you- with all sincerity,

    Joe Alloway

Poll: JOE ALLOWAY leads PHIL PAVLOV on inside margin, in Michigan House District 81 – JOBLESS; EDUCATION, & EXPERIENCE were key factors

PORT HURON, MI, July 19, 2004 (NEWSWIRE) -- The latest poll of voters in the crucial state of Michigan House District 81 have Joe Alloway-R (Port Huron Township) leading St. Clair’s Phil Pavlov, greater than its 4 percent margin of error.

The poll of 600 likely Republican voters in St. Clair County Michigan’s State Representative District 81 countywide found Alloway leading Pavlov by 12 points, 48 percent to 40 percent in a three-way race with Yale Republican Steve Pray Nader included in the ballot test.

Without Pray, Alloway still led Pavlov by 8 points, 46 percent to 38 percent.

The Joe Alloway Port Huron, St. Clair County Michigan District 81 primary ticket outpolled Phil Pavlov in all areas questioned. While Pavlov trailed, the majority of Pavlov’s respondents said Alloway was better qualified through experience and education.

Phil Pavlov, a St. Clair County Michigan Commissioner was just fourteen-months into his 24-month term county commission term when entering this hotly contested Michigan House of Representatives race.

Alloway’s twenty-two year national financial institution community service, previous state and federal experience was the major factor Pavlov supporters chose Joe Alloway as better qualified.

The poll, which found that Pavlov had a favorable/unfavorable rating of 52-to-44 percent to Alloway's 46-to-39 percent was attributed to Alloway’s service in the United States Marine Corps, experience with terrorism and university degree in public administration.

Phil Pavlov was noted as not having a four-year college degree, or a veteran of branches of the US Military. The poll was conducted July 14-16 by PTM/UM.

I thought just as you- so I took his guess to task and examined the proofs to his allegations--- trust me, Michigan is on the threshold of a criminal political scandal that will dwarf Wisconsin's Legislative Caucus scandal last year--- and, Wisconsin indicted better than 40 legislators and staff members--- do a search on Wisconsin Caucus Scandal- you'll see where I'm coming from.

Ohio also is at the start of the same---

This staffer had copied every internal document possible- they showed clear intent to avoid state law, use of state employees in electioneering, and in fact had placed almost the entire freshman class after term limits in jeopardy of criminal indictments.

I'd try for a faster connection to hear for yourself-- the Michigan Campaign Finance Reform Network did and investigations are growing.

Ohio also is at the start of the same---

In any event, State Campaign Finance is in need of reform

Political Campaign Managers on Michigan State Payroll?

Michigan State Representative Hager – Possible Felony for using state employee as Campaign Manager on Michigan payroll.

Lauren Hager might be thinking: “I might have committed a felony”, after recent revelation of violating Michigan State Campaign Finance law.

Hager’s handpicked sixteen-month St. Clair County Commissioner Phil Pavlov as his successor, Pavlov might now have second thoughts in what appears to be stepping in more than “termed out” Lauren Hager’s shoes.

Hager allegedly made use of a Michigan state employee as his 2000 reelection campaign manager, according to the Tony Trupiano Show. In an hour interview, former state employee Mark Powell also exposed campaign fixing in 1998 and 2000 in the St. Clair County state district’s elections by state employee electioneering.

Former state employee Mark Powell elaborated on age-old practices by the unique relationship between the House Republican Campaign Committee (HRCC), and independent political committee and the state funded Michigan Republican Caucus Communications Office.

Powell said then Communications Director Todd Anderson; current Chief of Staff to Speaker Rick Johnson assigned him to the 2000 Hager re-election campaign in Michigan’s 81st legislative district.

The complete interview from the Tony Trupiano Show on WXDX Detroit Talk Radio can be found at http://66.92.134.175/~benburch/old/TrupianoShow-(10-5-2004).mp3.

Powell filed complaints with the Office of Michigan Attorney General and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The complaint alleges Hager violated Michigan Campaign Finance law by not reporting the fair market value of the campaign manager to his 2000 campaign.

Apparently, as noted in the interview, Powell actually lived and worked in the home of Representative Lauren Hager. As a state paid employee he managed the campaign for six-months, and Representative Hager never questioned who was footing the bill.

“A Michigan Impossible until we work together ending illegal state house electioneering practices”

Joe Alloway-R Michigan House District 81 St. Clair County Michigan

PORT HURON – JULY 11, 2004 - Please listen to a recent interview (http://66.92.134.175/~benburch/old/TrupianoShow-(10-5-2004).mp3) exposing Michigan’s #1 area to reform and that’s ending illegal activities in Michigan’s House Republican Caucus Communications Office! Very few citizens asked have no idea of what that word means.

Folks, the bottom line is we’ve had some major problems in this antiquated, 50-person staffed office and they’re just coming public.

Take recent revelations of state employees assigned to representatives as campaign managers for up to six-months- all on state time and at taxpayer expense.

Look, this is “21st Century Michigan” and this is wrong, illegal and outright immoral in these economic times.

The blame goes to the small group of non-civil service house employees perpetuating practices made illegal years ago.

Anyone can agree there’s no place for either party using state employees, building and resources for partisan politics. The situation’s out of control and is about to explode as in Wisconsin’s Caucus Scandal soon abolished after the appearance of federal criminal indictments.

This might not sound like news, and in the months ahead you’ll hear more as this becomes BIG NEWS. We have major federal criminal investigations now underway, and this goes from the Speaker, Legislators- right down to the fact state money has manipulated local elections for years.

I invite you to listen to this radio interview of a former Michigan employee by Tony Trupiano on May 10, 2004.

Please follow this link and listen to the last third, and then please respond to me, Joe Alloway with your opinions. I have my view as I’ve worked on this for more than a year.

I’ve seen the proof, witnessed and seen the unthinkable for years--- please go to: http://66.92.134.175/~benburch/old/TrupianoShow-(10-5-2004).mp3 then respond with your viewpoint.
