  • What Sarah Palin could learn from Eli Manning

The Eli Sarah comparison is inspired! In the land of narcissists (media, politics, big time sports-entertainment, both are just great ‘kids,” with a certain something extra on the inside. How I hope she comes through like he did.

Run2battle, your articles are right on. Not right on everything I guess, but right on. I’m not radical or even politically wired, but what they’ve done to Sister Sarah has profoundly frosted me. Five weeks ago she was a governor with an 80% approval rating. Since the moment she arrived on the scene she’s been subject to the most dreadful onslaught by all the media’s vast muling minions and muscle-goons; and they cutely profess objectivity, or claim to speak for societal decency and good-will. And now the conservative pundits are hedging their bets, getting ready to fold, conservative thinkers leaving a conservative doer alone on the battlefield — because she got knocked back when she got smashed in the face — she didn’t even go down yet. Hey, maybe she’ll stand in, survive, go forward — why not pull for that? And we’re voiceless to do anything. It absolutely frosts me.

    Did I get this straight?

Ms. Parker states: “Some of the passionately feminist critics who attacked her personally deserved some of the backlash they received. This means that not all
of the “passionately feminist critics” who attacked her personally deserved any “backlash,” and that those who did, deserved only ‘some.’ But weren’t such attacks simply despicable in nature, and so
    to be condemned categorically?

    K. Parket defines the “Palin Problem” as this: “Quick study or not,she doesn’t know enough about economics and foreign policy to make Americans comfortable with a President Palin should conditions warranther promotion.”

So, Sister Sarah should step aside based on a problem that is not one of substance, but perception (comfort with):
But if she is a quick study, she can learn. [And if —as we hope — she has the essential traits of character to be a leader in our nation, surely she will learn; certainly, those who are her supporters should support her as she
strives bravely if not manfuly to do so. Who would not be rocked by the shots she has taken??]

Back to K. Parker, the problem described is not “not knowing enough about economics and foreign policy” in itself, since this can be cured, especially by a
quick study; rather, the problem is “to make Americans comfortable with a President Palin”; but this is why she is in the arena. This is her battle, win, lose or draw. And if she enters it under the Incredibly extreme pressure of the entire weight of the media — very sophisticated, malicious, articulate, unscrupulous, pseudo-objective,
and takes a few shots in the early going — so be it. This in itself is a trial by fire, which if she survives will not only help to temper her for the most difficult task imaginable; moreover, in winning through she would be improving the comfort level of those same Americans noted by Ms. Parker (only some of them, to be sure).

Just think, one month ago she was just a high-energy, competent and fun governor of a a huge but sparsely populated state, with an 80% approval rating and a genuine verve that is rarely seen in public life — and now this Great Gal from Wasila, Alaska is scorned and mocked and taunted, and hated, passionately HATED not only by “passionate feminists” but the most powerful visages and voices ranging across washington, new york, los angeles, san francisco. Yet, she still stands. Many’s the champ has survived a first round onslaught, persevered and prevailed.

Ms. Parker’s sage advice is especially odious to us who wish Gov. Palin the fortitude to hang in there against what we all realize are overwhelming odds, to survive these shots the like of which she could never have dreamed of in a nightmare, and to emerge stronger, and then to go forward. Should we abandon her because she’s getting pummelled? These pundits are a joke. Just as most politicians are of a similar stripe, same with these piss-ant elitist intellectuals, ‘conservative’ or otherwise.

Finally, as for the condemnation Ms. Parker states that she faces for “swimming downstream, away from Sarah Palin,” the condemnation such as it is is because it’s just a mediocre thing to do. Anyway, the truth of the matter is its already won her kudos from certain quarters, or at least acknowledgement?

I notice that many people on this site hate Mike Huckabee, and it is clear why. One thing, though: just who do you think the Reagan Democrats were/Are?
