US Rep. Tsongas (Massachusetts) meeting on Obama health care proposal in Chelmsford, Mass Aug. 8, 2009. Rep. Tsongas stated the abortion would not be covered under the proposed plan because of the Hyde Amendment prohibiting the use of public funds for the procedure. She also stated that illegal aliens would not be covered. Many reports on the proposed plan say otherwise. 800 people showed up for the meeting but only 400 were allowed in the hall.
