I just heard my Congressman on local radio. He too is claiming the Dems do not have the votes. He also said that the Dems are buying votes right now.

Yes- these are actual cuts. Spend $13.85b in 2009, spend $11.5B in 2010. That is a cut of $2.35b cut. Actually spending less this year than last year

Clearly Governor Palin managed to make dramatic cuts to the budget beyond President Obama's stimulus funds. I remember thinking and hoping that if Governor Palin was forced to take the stimulus funds for either political reasons or mandated laws, she would still find a way to make cuts to her budget.

    Mission accomplished.

If Governor Palin had followed the same path as most governors, she would end up spending as much as she did last year, $13.83 billion plus another $1 billion bringing her budget to almost $15 billion.

Governor Palin's fiscally conservative ways would not allow her to do this. She had plenty of opportunities to make excuses and continue on spending money. She knows that attempting to spend money with the price of oil at what it is today is fiscally irresponsible.

    ...

In the end, the liberals and the folks that call themselves "real fiscal conservatives" can spin, spit, saber rattle, spew and prattle on about Governor Palin not being a real fiscal conservative, but the numbers do not bear out their falsified facts.

When you hear this just point them to the real numbers. Numbers don't lie, but those folks filled with Palin Derangement Syndrome do lie.

Governor Sarah Palin is a fiscal conservative.

I do remember when this came out.

After reading this line in the article, I got curious and looked it up-

"Buel Young, spokesman for the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration, said that based on a state Attorney General's opinion issued a few years ago, transportation officials don't ask whether a person applying for a license is in the United States legally.

Someone applying for a Maryland driver's license must show proof of identity, age and state residency, Young said."

This seems to be a ruling by the former Attorney General of Maryland Joe Curran Jr.- a DEMOCRAT!

Actually Feingold has several problems. One being that this is unconstitutional, the second being that this will probably not make it out of committee because the Democrats do not want this on the floor.

    Check out this article-

    http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0107/2478.html

"Feingold, a fierce war critic, will force Democrats to consider an option many consider politically suicidal: cutting off funds for the military campaign in Iraq. Democratic leaders have privately called on members to restrain from seeking any funding restrictions and focus instead on congressional resolutions condemning the Bush policy. The resolutions are nonbinding and therefore symbolic."

I am not even sure why this particular story was written. None of this is against the law, and this is a normal practice is Washington.

The politicians manipulate the media and the media manipulate the politicians.

This should come as no shock to anyone.

As long as no one knowingly leaked the name of undercover CIA agent, then the law was not broken.

Good grief, with the writing of the story, the media is attempting to manipulate the American public.

    I missed the whole thing.

All I caught was a bit on the evening news. Both channels I switched to were showing the Democrat's response.

Both stations were showing the same clip.

The part that I saw was probably the most immature response that I have ever seen from the Democrats.

...Congress thinks the President's plan is wrong... the troops think the plan is wrong...

    What was that drivel about?

I kept waiting to hear Webb say "... and your Mom thinks your wrong, and you Dad thinks your wrong... In fact, everybody thinks your wrong...."

I was waiting to see Webb stick his tongue out at the President.

Seriously, the smidge that I caught was very immature.

    You are right Darkwolf-

What we really need are "activist" conservatives. Ones that are willing to go out and work for conservative values.

The way I figure it, the more active that I become, the sooner we will be able to bring about permanent tax cuts for everyday working class Americans, like myself.

I cannot tell you how many times over the last year I have heard folks say they are thru with the Republican party.

Well, not me! I have become active in order to push the party back to it's conservative roots. It all starts on the local level and works it way up.

Let's not kid ourselves, both Republicans and Democrats in Congress feast on a pork diet.

The ultimate Republican, Ronald Reagan, raised taxes and the party did not cease to exist.

    It does happen.

Until we, the voters, remove the porkers from our Republican Party- this problem will not cease to exist.

The Alaska bridge is only a symptom of the problem. The real problem is not being addressed- earmarks.

    They should be eliminated completely.

Clearly the Dems have proven that is not going to happen.

With this "Pay as you go" system that just passed, now we all have to pay extra taxes for these earmarks.

Raising taxes in the "pay as you go" system used to require a 3/5th vote of approval in order to increase taxes.

The Democrats are now trying to eliminate the 3/5ths vote so they can increase taxes to "pay as you go".

The problem is earmarks. They should have been eliminated.

Instead the Democrats are finding new ways to finance these earmarks by increasing our taxes.

I am not really looking for retribution. I would rather have an honest and fair government.

Instead we have power hunger controlling people like Doyle in office.

What we have learned is that Doyle and the Democrats make the rules. They will continue to make the rules to favor themselves staying in power.

    Reagan Democrats?

Do you mean folks like newly elected Democratic Senator James Webb who beat Santorum? Webb worked in Reagan's administration.

You sound like Sean Hannity. What I never understood is why Hannity ranted and railed against Bush and Republicans in general, by using Ronald Reagan as the ultimate conservative. Ronald Reagan was a hero and Bush a dud according to Hannity.

    Well, guess what?

Ronald Reagan was the first to give away a massive amnesty program to illegal immigrants. Citizenship was handed to the illegals with no rules and no regulations. If illegals were here, they received amnesty. In the months leading up the this new law, tens of thousands more illegals poured across the border to receive this new amnesty signed by Ronald Reagan.

George Bush insists on some type of penalty being paid for entering the country illegally.

This is all I could think of as I listened to Hannity and tons of Freepers saying that Bush should be more conservative/more Reagan like.

Well, the process is almost complete. Reagan was the last president to give illegal immigrants amnesty. George Bush may follow.

By the way, Reagan was also the last President to raise the taxes on Social Security. George Bush may be the next.

The transformation is almost complete. Bush's presidency is following Reagan's path.

All of these things that are being said about Bush were also being said Reagan at the time.

Reagan died a conservative hero. George Bush is becoming Reagan's clone.

Reagan was forced to work with Democrats to pass legislation, George Bush now has to learn to do the same thing.

Will George Bush get the same respect from conservatives that Reagan got?

Until the folks who call themselves true conservatives can figure out a plan to deal with the 12 to 30 million illegals already in this country, then these conservatives will have no say in the immigration policies in this country.

Building a fence does not rid our country of millions of illegal immigrants living off of the taxpayers.

True conservatives need to come up with a comprehensive plan that not only stops illegals from entering this country, but also deals with the 12 to 30 million already here.

If true conservatives want a say in the new illegal immigration policies, they need to come up with a plan. Not just spout hot air. The bully approach does not work.

It's called governing. Sometimes governoring requires compromise.

Have you ever wondered why it took so many years for our forefathers to write our constitution?

It's because some folks had to compromise. That's why.
