Erie, Pa. (AP) - Two women who participated in a prison love letter scheme that netted more than $220,000 will spend more time in prison. Cynthia Denise Livingston was sentenced Monday to one and one-half years in prison and ordered to pay nearly $5,000 restitution. Michelle Mendoza was sentenced to one year in prison and ordered pay nearly $7,700 restitution. Livingtson and Mendoza are among ten inmates from Erie, Crawford and Lycoming counties indicted in September. TOLEDO, Ohio Jun 7, 2005 — She's 91 and uses a hearing aid and eyeglasses, but Katherine Woodworth wasn't about to let somebody steal her purse. Woodworth clobbered the would-be thief with her bag until he ran away, police said.

TAMPA, Fla. -- A robbery attempt and a gunshot wound to the leg didn't stop a Tampa pizza delivery man from making his deliveries Saturday night. Thomas Stefanelli says it was "dedication" that drove him to deliver four pizzas after being shot in the thigh.

Prosecutors summoned parents of repeatedly truant children to attend a meeting about the law concerning excessive absences, but 241 of the adults didn't show up. Knox County District Attorney General Randy Nichols mailed letters about the Tuesday evening meeting to 582 parents, and about 41 percent were absent. State law allows prosecutors to to hold parents accountable for their children's school absences. Knox County in February arrested 19 parents whose children had 10 or more unexcused absences from school. Parents found guilty can be punished by a year in jail. ---
