I thought, surely it can't be that bad. President Trump must have overstated it by calling it a sh**hole. I mean, after all we are still talking about a Caribbean island - turquoise waters, white sandy beaches, palm trees, maybe a few resorts. So I did a Google Image search of what I expected to be slightly less than an island paradise. Enjoy.. Haiti, in photos.

Former Mexican President Vicente Fox had some harsh words for President Trump after he reportedly referred to Haiti, El Salvador, and African nations as “shithole countries” during a meeting with lawmakers. “.@realDonaldTrump, your mouth is the foulest shithole in the world,” Fox tweeted in response on Thursday. “With what authority do you proclaim who’s welcome in America and who’s not. America’s greatness is built on diversity, or have you forgotten your immigrant background, Donald?”

Love is always in the air through the holiday season, making one flight on duty extra-special for a couple in aviation. On Dec. 23, flight attendant Lauren Gibbs and pilot Jon Emerson were working an Oklahoma City-bound flight from Detroit that was especially sweet, not only because they were flying together, but also because it was their anniversary.

Racing to reverse the country's economic spiral, President Barack Obama signed the mammoth stimulus package into law Tuesday and readied a new $50 billion foreclosure rescue for legions of Americans who are in danger of losing their homes. There was no recovery yet for beleaguered automakers, who were back in Washington for more bailout billions. General Motors Corp. said it was closing plants, Chrysler LLC said it was cutting vehicle models and both said they were getting rid of thousands more jobs as they made their restructuring cases for $5 billion more for Chrysler and as much as $16.6 billion...

WASHINGTON: Defying dire, worldwide warnings, US President Donald Trump on Wednesday broke with decades of US and international policy by recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital. Despite urgent appeals from Arab and European leaders and the risk of anti-American protests and violence, Trump declared that he was ending an approach that for decades has failed to advance the prospects for peace. He also for the first time personally endorsed the concept of a 'two-state solution' for Israel and the Palestinians, provided both sides agree to it. "I have determined that it is time to officially recognize Jerusalem as the capital of...

NEW DELHI: India should nourish and cultivate its Muslim population which is successful and integrated and considers itself Indian unlike in some other countries, former US President Barack Obama said here on Friday while also observing that PM Narendra Modi recognises the importance of Indian unity. He said he had spoken of the need for religious tolerance and the right to practise one's faith in private conversations with Modi, a theme he spoke of during his last official visit to India as President in 2015. Asked at the HT leadership summit if his 2015 comments were intended for Modi, Obama...

...The president is spurring Democrats to the voting booth while letting his own base drift away. His job approval in the Real Clear Politics average is 38%, 8 points below his share of the vote last November. In other words, 1 out of 6 people who cast ballots for Mr. Trump disapprove of his performance. This showed up in Southwest Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley—the commonwealth’s Trump Country. Mr. Gillespie carried these areas by impressive margins, but turnout was either down or simply not up as dramatically as in the anti-Trump suburbs... ..Mr. Gillespie did win independents statewide, 50.5% to...

Republican Ed Gillespie is now narrowly leading the Virginia gubernatorial race by 3 points, according to a new poll, just three days before Tuesday's election. The new poll of likely Virginia voters by Republican firm Optimus/Firehouse Strategies over Wednesday and Thursday shows Gillespie leading his Democratic opponent Ralph Northam by 40.4 percent to 37.4 percent. His lead is just outside the poll's margin of error. Recent polls have suggested a late-game comeback for Gillespie, who trailed Northam by a small margin for recent months of the race, with a Friday poll showing the two locked in a dead heat at...
  • Recurrent brain cancer: New hope with phase 1 clinical trial results

    10/28/2017 10:34:34 PM PDT · by libh8er · 10 replies
New data from a Phase I clinical trial shows more than a quarter of patients with recurrent high-grade glioma, a form of brain cancer, were alive more than three years after treatment. "Given the deadly nature of this disease, three-year survival is rarely reported in the recurrent setting. It is notable that the survival benefit was seen across a range of patients and not just limited to patients with specific genetic mutations," said Chen. "This finding indicates that many patients could benefit from this treatment." As Chen explained at the AACR-NCI-EORTC International Conference on Molecular Targets and Cancer Therapeutics two...

A man accidentally started a social media war between two of London’s biggest museums. During The Natural History Museum's Ask a Curator event on Twitter, one man had this pressing query he needed answering: Who would win in a staff battle between @sciencemuseum and @NHM_London, what exhibits/items would help you be victorious? #askacurator The Natural History Museum replied: We have dinosaurs. No contest. But then the Science Museum jumped in... @NHM_London is full of old fossils, but we have robots, a Spitfire and ancient poisons. The movie and music mogul, who seems to enjoy posting pics of famous friends on Instagram, has shared a string of images these past few months including a busy August when he welcomed (at the same time) Oprah Winfrey and BFF Gayle King, Disney chairman and CEO Bob Iger with wife Willow Bay, Barry Diller with wife Diane von Furstenberg, and Diane Sawyer. “Great week in Sicily,” Geffen wrote with a pic of Winfrey, King, Iger, Bay and Sawyer with...

[The groom, Dennis Muhammad Abdullah, converted to Islam in 2015] The daughter of one of Malaysia’s most powerful sultans married her Dutch fiancé on Monday in a lavish ceremony steeped in centuries of tradition. Princess Tunku Tun Aminah Sultan Ibrahim, 31, the only daughter of the Sultan of Johor, tied the knot with Dennis Muhammad Abdullah, 28, following a three-year romance. The Dutchman, who has converted to Islam, and the princess were married according to Muslim Malay custom at the Serene Hill Palace, the royal family’s residence in the southern city of Johor Bahru. The private ceremony was attended by...

China is using Doklam as yet another laboratory to test its salami slicing policy of territorial expansion. India is resisting this attempt while the world leaders have generally maintained silence over Doklam. Commenting on the Doklam standoff between the Indian Army and the People's Liberation Army (PLA), Chinese foreign affairs spokesperson yesterday said, "Right now, I can tell you that there are 48 Indian military guards in our territory of Donglang (Doklam)." "It has already been more than a month since the incident and India is still not only illegally remaining on Chinese territory, it is also repairing roads in...

I can't think of another way to explain the leaks. A day after Kelly assumes office, a story leaks involving Kelly himself. Trump can keep firing people all he wants until he is left with only Ivanka, Jarred and himself in the WH but the leaks will still most likely continue. Which leads me to think Mohammed Hussein O Barrack in the waning days of his presidency had the WH bugged using the most advanced technology at his disposal. Not hard to imagine since he had the full support of Big Tech. As long as words are spoken inside the...

By registering you agree to our T&Cs & Privacy Policy The revised map of China on the cover of the July 31 issue of India Today sparked patriotic backlash from China’s online users, many of whom used strong language to denounce both the magazine and India as a whole. But China’s foreign ministry dismissed the controversy. In response to a reporter’s question about the contentious cover, spokesman Lu...

Former Vice President Joe Biden reportedly called Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) ahead of Friday's vote on Senate Republicans' healthcare bill, asking that he oppose the legislation. According to a report by The Washington Post, McCain was called by both Biden and former Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) ahead of the vote, both pleading with McCain to oppose the "skinny' repeal. Lieberman supported voting for ObamaCare while a senator, and reportedly explained that continued support to McCain during his call.
  • [Trump vs Swamp] The swamp strikes back

A lot of snakes and scorpions live with the alligators in the swamp, and there are even more dangerous monsters there. No swamp creature is deadlier than a Washington lawyer. The president is beginning to understand why he should never have agreed to his attorney general appointing a special prosecutor. We’re supposed to call him a “special counsel,” which may sound more upright, more punctilious and less fearsome, but words don’t fool anyone who lives in the swamp. A special counsel is hired to destroy the prey, like the gunfighter hired in Cheyenne to chase the sodbusters out of the...
