We had a Pyrenees/Shepherd cross who loved every human in the world. Our daily walks took us past a preschool, and when the kids were out he would act the same.
But. He was *enormous* and knew it. There were always a few kids too scared to come near him. So when the first kids settled down, he would lie down, put his chin on the ground, and try to look small so they wouldn’t be scared. It worked far more often than it had any right to.
