RALEIGH, N.C. — Gov. Roy Cooper issued a new stay-at-home order on Tuesday to limit the spread of coronavirus, ordering most businesses to close at 10 p.m. each night, starting Friday. "We have to act now to save lives, preserve hospital capacity and protect our economy," Cooper said during an afternoon news conference. The order will require all restaurants, bars, personal care businesses and most retailers to be closed between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Alcohol sales for on-site consumption will have to end at 9 p.m. The stay-at-home order "means just what it says – people are to stay...

For months, Joe Biden has argued that under pressure and political duress, President Donald Trump may pursue increasingly extreme measures to stay in power. In November, Biden said he feared that “as the walls close in on him he becomes more erratic. And I’m genuinely concerned about what he may do in order to try to hold on to the office.” In January, Biden fretted: “He still has another nine or 10 months. God knows what can happen.” And Thursday, he added some urgency to his warnings, suggesting that Trump might try to delay or otherwise disrupt the election.

“Pop” was the guide. At 5:00 pm we’d sit before the black & white TV and watch the news. After the local news—less a crime report than today—it was on to the national news on NBC, CBS and ABC. We’d watch each channel for a few minutes, and then shift to a second. Then the third. This was during the golden era for the news face-men—no women allowed. Cronkite, Huntley/Brinkley, Jennings, Brokaw, Reasoner, Koppel, Chancellor, et al. Edward R. Morrow was Dean Emeritus of the News School. Morrow came to fame in the radio era with his reporting from London...

One of the great unknowns in terms of the future electorate is the effect the Democrats’ increasingly radical anti-faith stance will have on its voting coalition. Black and Hispanic Democrats tend to be far more religious than the white Democrats who are driving the party’s agenda. Will this alliance hold as the party increasingly kowtows to vocal anti-Christian Marxists? Will these voters start to defect as Democrats intensify their open war on people of faith? These questions arose this week when the sad story emerged that Chick-fil-A would no longer support three mainstream Christian-based charities; the Salvation Army, the Fellowship...

Male executives on Wall Street are so spooked by the #MeToo movement that they’re avoiding women altogether, a Bloomberg report said Monday. Interviews with more than 30 senior executives suggest that the #MeToo movement has led to “gender segregation” in the workplace, Bloomberg reported. “It’s creating a sense of walking on eggshells,” one adviser told the publication.

VATICAN CITY — The Vatican is preparing the "necessary clarifications" about accusations that top Vatican officials including Pope Francis covered up the sexual misconduct of a now-disgraced American cardinal, Francis' top advisers said Monday. In a statement, Francis' nine cardinal advisers expressed their "full solidarity" with the pope over the scandal, which has thrown his papacy into crisis. The cardinals, who are meeting at the Vatican this week, said they were aware that "the Holy See is working on formulating the potential and necessary clarifications."

Aussie Downer: You might not know the name of Alexander Downer, but you should. The former Australian Foreign Minister and current Australian ambassador to the United Kingdom, Downer is the person who actually started the ball rolling in creating the anti-Trump dossier. And, it turns out, he's a Clintonite. Downer sat down for a pint or two in a London pub with former Trump campaign aide George Papadopoulos back in 2016. Papadopoulos claimed to Downer that the Russians had some nasty information on Hillary Clinton. Downer subsequently told the FBI. And the FBI then began investigating not Clinton, but possible...

One of the nation’s most prominent Christian leaders said he fears President Trump is facing a grave domestic threat by forces who want to take over the White House. "I believe we are in a coup d'etat," Franklin Graham said Wednesday on the "Todd Starnes Radio Show." "There are people in this country who are wanting to destroy the president and take over the government by force."

President Donald Trump directed his White House counsel to tell Attorney General Jeff Sessions not to recuse himself from the Justice Department's investigation into potential ties between Russia and the Trump campaign, according to a person familiar with the matter. The conversation between Don McGahn, the president's White House counsel, and Sessions took place on the president's orders and occurred just before the attorney general announced that he would step aside from the ongoing inquiry into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election, according to a person with knowledge of the interaction. Two other people confirmed details of the conversation...

Congressional investigators and military officials warned repeatedly about overworked sailors, shortened training schedules and budget cuts in the years leading up to two fatal collisions involving U.S. Navy ships, government auditors, lawmakers and Pentagon officials said. The collisions in June and earlier this week, both Navy guided-missile destroyers operating in the Pacific, left 17 sailors dead or missing. Three reports in the past two years by the Government Accountability Office, an independent watchdog agency, spell out endemic problems. They found through interviews and Navy studies that U.S. sailors overseas often arrive to their assigned ships without adequate skills and experience....

Before the angry mob of breathless Democrats gets too spun up and ahead of itself, the anti-Trumpers should calm down and try to absorb just how preposterous it is to suggest that President Trump may have committed a criminal offense by supposedly obstructing justice during the Russia/Michael Flynn investigation. Consider for a moment what would have happened if Trump had placed an op-ed in a prominent newspaper, arguing that the investigation into his campaign and former national security adviser Flynn was misguided, a wasteful use of government resources, and that he thought it should stop. To do so would be...

The left-wing future is now. San Francisco's far-left population has been at the forefront of the battle for astronomical minimum wages. Currently, the area enjoys a $13.00 minimum, and most of the activists who line the streets would like to see it raised by at least a couple of bucks. That, as we've told you before, is making the idea of robots extremely attractive. Why pay a worker fifteen bucks (and worry about sickness, vacations, benefits, and demands for even more money) when you can just replace him with a kiosk or wheeled delivery drone? Apparently, no one in the...

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) told Fox News on Thursday that Congress should abandon their own investigations and go back to focusing on Hillary Clinton’s emails. Senator Graham also said he has reason to believe that there are emails between Clinton campaign officials, democratic operatives to the Department of Justice regarding the Clinton email investigation

Who are President Donald Trump's two best friends in politics? Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. Yeah, I know what you're thinking. You see their smirks and those six bloody elbows between the three of them, and you figure this is no relationship. But it is a relationship that works for the president because they keep bringing up his favorite subject. And it works fine for Barack and Hillary because it fills their egos with a mighty wind. It just doesn't work for the Democratic Party. It is a relationship that benefits Trump, because every time Obama or Clinton open their...

After successfully interfering to deny former FLOTUS and former senator of New York Hillary R. Clinton (D)'s destiny to smash a glass ceiling by becoming the first spouse to become president all by her valiant self in 2008, but endorsing her in her hapless campaign eight years later, after failing to prevent Britain from leaving the European Union despite his desperate trip there to warn them he would be really mad if they disobeyed him, after ignoring his own bloody red line warnings to Syria so Syria did the same, after unsuccessfully spending over $350,000 to twice defeat Israeli prime...

A conservative comedy duo has turned the Garth Brooks classic "Friends in Low Places" into a hysterical anthem mocking special snowflakes. The musical parody by Chad Prather and Steve "Mudflap" McGrew hit the web last week, and the pair has taken their satirical song on the road for their "Friends in Safe Spaces" comedy tour. A few sample lyrics include... I've got friends in safe spaces. If you don't go with us, then you must be racist. Come on in and let's be cozy. Showin' off participation trophies. Blame it all on our roots, we never wore boots, we never...

Everyone should try to skip the shiny things embedded within the story of a laptop theft from a Secret Service Agent Marie Argentieri. The theft appears to have nothing to do with Trump Tower or Trump Tower floor plans. The theft appears to have everything to do with Argentieri as a supportive investigator for Hillary Clinton’s private email server.

An Italian archbishop close to Pope Benedict XVI has claimed that the It is “no coincidence” that some Catholic groups “have asked President Trump to open a commission of inquiry to investigate whether the administration of Barack Obama exerted pressure on Benedict,” said Archbishop Luigi Negri in an interview Monday, citing other revelations by Wikileaks regarding efforts by the Democratic Party to sway the direction of the Catholic Church in the United States. “It remains shrouded in mystery for now,” he said to news outlet Rimini 2.0, “but I am sure that those responsible will be found out.” The archbishop...
