BAGHDAD, July 21 (UPI) -- Iraqi security reportedly discovered three missiles carrying nuclear heads concealed in a concrete trench northwest of Baghdad, official sources said Wednesday. The official daily al-Sabah quoted the sources as saying the missiles were discovered in trenches near the city of Tikrit, the hometown of ousted Iraqi President Saddam Hussein. I have been a lurker for 5 years (only had a sign on for 2 years) and I do not post much so please bear with me. The election has me all worked up. It seems like the Republicans have/had a great chance to take back the Senate but the 4th quarter lead seems to be slipping away. Its like a bad movie script and I am the only one that can see the ending. I think MO, NH, GA,TN CO, AR and AK can really go either way and it looks likely that the Senate will remain in the...

Washington The first thing to do when trying to understand 'Islamic suicide bombers' is to forget the clichés about the Muslim taste for martyrdom. It does exist, of course, but the desire for paradise is not a safe guide to what motivated the appalling suicide attacks on New York and Washington last week. Throughout history, political extremists of all faiths have willingly given up their lives simply in the belief that by doing so, whether in bombings or in other forms of terror, they would change the course of history, or at least win an advantage for their cause. Tamils ...

The Associated Press Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000; 9:06 a.m. EST KUWAIT –– If Israel were to attack Syria or Lebanon, Iran would retaliate in an "astounding and unexpected" way, Iran's defense minister said in remarks published Saturday. In an interview with the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Watan, Rear Adm. Ali Shamkhani said Iran would not leave its "strategic ally Syria" or Lebanon to face Israeli attacks alone. "This is very normal and our response would be astounding and unexpected," he said. Shamkhani did not say what form the retaliation might take, but added that "not all what is known could be said, ...
