Some things are always a joy: beautiful sunrises and sunsets, the laughter of grandchildren, walks on the beach, my wife's cooking — and until now, the Gabriel Allon novels by Daniel Silva. Year after year, I have impatiently awaited summer and the release of his next book. But this year's offering, The Cellist, has put an end to my craving for Silva's writing. Sadly, in this book, the author has abandoned what is likely more than half his readership and penned a viciously anti-Trump tome. I knew there was trouble ahead when Silva dedicated his book to the Capitol Police...

Johnny Bench remembers them well. They were his peers, his idols, his friends. And now they are gone, 10 greats from the Baseball Hall of Fame, lost in a terrible stretch of just over a year — more death for the game’s hallowed hall than at any similar span in its 85-year history. Ten greats, who now exist only in memories: at bat, in the field and in the dugout. During a year of widespread misery, and in a world still struggling against a virus that has killed millions, how do we make sure that these players are not forgotten?...

With only a small percentage of fans returning to college football games across the country, the financial impact is not only affecting the universities directly, but the businesses closely tied to these schools. The coronavirus has kept more and more people out of communities. As a result, smaller operations that once thrived during the heart of the season are suffering. Colleges still are struggling to hone their COVID-19 protocols, and the packs of fans who are so eager to don their school colors and head out to bars, restaurants and other venues are stuck inside the confines of their own...

As companies grapple with their roles in contributing to racial equality and inequality, diversity and inclusion programs have taken on more importance in the corporate world. But in retail, one well-regarded bicycle brand led by an industry legend is innovating a more direct approach to address racial inequality: reparations in the form of a 45% discount for Black customers.

METRO Facebook Twitter Flipboard WhatsApp Email Copy Richard Carranza held ‘white-supremacy culture’ training for school admins By Susan Edelman, Selim Algar and Aaron Feis May 20, 2019 | 10:44pm | Updated A graphic of the presentation. City Department of Education brass are targeting a “white-supremacy culture” among school administrators — by disparaging ideas like “individualism,” “objectivity” and “worship of the written word,” The Post has learned. A presentation slide obtained by The Post offers a bullet-point description of the systemic, supposedly pro-white favoritism that Schools Chancellor Richard Carranza claims must be eradicated from the DOE, and provides just one insight...

With a teacher’s encouragement, seventh-graders in a social-studies class at JHS 80 used their city-issued laptops last week to e-mail letters to The Post to protest a report about their school that cited discipline problems, hazardous conditions, and administrators who try to cover up violent incidents. Sadly, the students did not display the writing skills they should be learning. The missives were rife with grammar, spelling and punctuation errors — and some curse words. OK SO YOU CAN SIT DOWN AND LISTEN TO WHAT IM GONNA TELL YOU TRANCE GENDER!!!!!!YOU SHOULD SHUT THE F–K UP!!!YOU JUST MAD YOU DONT HAVE...

Jason Falconer is a part-time police officer, but he didn’t have to carry a concealed firearm to Crossroads Center mall in St. Cloud, Minn., on Saturday. He wasn’t on duty when a knife-wielding man went on a rampage. He was—like the thousands of concealed carry permit holders across the country—an American citizen exercising his constitutional rights. But his decision to do so saved dozens of lives, and his quick thinking and good training kept the situation from getting much worse.

Khan started World Hijab Day to build empathy for this perspective and to encourage non-Muslims, and Muslims who don't normally wear a hijab, to try it out. The Arabic word hijab refers not just to a headscarf but to modest dress and behavior in general.

A Brooklyn high school teacher caught canoodling with a female colleague will be back to school in the fall — and wants the city to pay her for the time she missed because of the steamy romp. Former Madison High School teacher Cindy Mauro has been out of a job a year after she was caught in a compromising position with Alini Brito in a darkened classroom at 8:50 p.m. in November 2009.

WND has discovered what amounts to the government playbook for countering the rising “backlash” against the secret planting of Muslim refugees into cities and towns across America. The 2013 report anticipated two years ago that resistance would increase to the seeding of communities with Muslim refugees if counter measures were not undertaken. The report was prophetic. A city Health Department form for new parents requesting birth certificates asks the “woman giving birth” if she’s male or female...“To be clear, it is possible for a person who has given birth to a child to identify as male,” said Susan Sommer, a lawyer for Lambda Legal, an advocacy group for lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and transgender people.

After answering a brief survey of 3 questions I was asked an open ended question of what the Republican leaders should do. All I said was that the Republicans need to get new leaders who will stand up to Obama and it appeared to me that Speaker Boehner was a drunk. Click.

As long as the kids are away, teachers can play, a panel of judges said Thursday, ruling that educators shouldn’t be fired for having sex with one another — even in their classrooms. The Manhattan appellate judges said foreign-language teachers Alini Brito, 34, and Cindy Mauro, 38, were treated too harshly when they were dismissed for engaging in a topless classroom tryst inside Brooklyn’s James Madison HS in 2009.
