  • Southwest Airlines faces $10.2 million fine

SW has a safety record that can only be admired by other airlines. To my knowledge they have never had a crash and one plane slid off the runway in Chicago during an ice storm recently.

When you consider before they ever put a new 737 into service, they have the cockpit configured like every other plane they own so that when a pilot steps into the cockpit nothing is different than with any other plane. My son flies SW all the time.

  • Disquiet over schools' moment of silence

I thank God that my children did not have to go to public schools and that my grandchildren will be home schooled.

Having said that, I always found it interesting when I lived in New England that the majority of public school teachers sent their kids to Catholic/private schools.

I often wonder why someone doesn’t countersue when these idiots from ACLU start their little dance (they use suits to fill their coffers. If I had a child in that school, that’s exactly what I would do. After all, my child has rights too; such as the right not to have to kowtow to an atheist.

I have noticed that the public schools fell all over themselves to provide prayer rooms and dismissing muslim students from class to go to said rooms to pray 5 times a day. Just how do they justify that.

Here in Iowa every city has natural gas. Rural homes use propane. Nobody here that I know of uses home heating oil anymore because it is so uneconomical. I don’t understand why the NE has clung to home heating oil.

Quite simple. They won’t allow new pipelines to be built so even most heating oil is brought in by tanker. The enviros will see the country go to hell in a handbasket in order to stay pristine.

Sort of reminds me of a story I heard about Cape Canaveral, FL in the 60s when the Cape was just getting underway. Several times houses of ill repute had tried to open and make a go of it and failed miserable. Too much free stuff running around.

I grew up in South Georgia during the 30s and 40s. My folks were sharecroppers. We were poor as church mice, but didn’t know it. Mom and my sisters spent the summer canning 3,000 quarts of veggies and fruits to carry us thorough the winter. In November we killed 13 hogs for meat for the winter after it being smoked in the smokehouse for several weeks. We walked miles to school, but came home and picked cotton in August until it was all in.

This guy says “I’ll knock the far outa that no-count scandal,” I could say with native syllabically padded fluency. Fire. Of no account. Scoundrel. Well, in my day we wouldda said “I will knock the peewaddling sh** outta you or “I will stomp a mudhole in your a** and walk it dry. Is this guy really a southerner?

I was watching the 4th of July parade with my son in Catonsville and lo there was a gaggle of old ladies (probably left over hippies from the 60s) carrying signs that said “Peace is Patriotic”. I thought well, small town allowing little old ladies to march in their parade.

Now when I go to the 32nd Street farmers market in downtown Baltimore on Saturday mornings, there are the little old ladies with their table handing out their literature and signs “Peace is Patriotic”. Mostly they have cornered college students since that is a student area.

It seems everywhere you look these days there are antis in every nook and corner.

It has long been a felony to be caught going 20 mph over the speed limit regardless, and the points stay for 11 years.”

    LOL

No, it’s not yet a felony, but if the Virginia Legislature thought it could make them more revenue, they might make it one.

Don’t believe it? Get caught going 20 over the speed limit and find out.

Does anyone think it’s about time we let the Rhinos who are up for reelection know that if they vote against the war, they will surely lose the election? It’s time we rose up against those little pu$$ies and let them know that they work for us, not anyone else. It is time for political correctness to be dispensed with.

Do you honestly believe all interstates have a speed limit of 70 mph? Get rid of your CA rose colored glasses. VA does not repeat NOT have a speed limit of more than 65 mph, and that is only on some interstates. Most major highways are 55 and that includes some interstates, including the VA portion of I-495 around DC. It has long been a felony to be caught going 20 mph over the speed limit regardless, and the points stay for 11 years.

Part of the problem is Ex-governor Warner let the WaPO goad them into raising the tobacco tax and they are losing that revenue also. IT IS ALL ABOUT MONEY.

When I lived in the sticks, I had a phone line just for my computer. Periodically I got static so bad I couldn’t get on line. It was always “your equipment”. A repairman told me early on the lines were 75 years old. I called for repair and the guy told me to unplug the computer from the line and it would reset itself and the problem would be cured. Like an idiot I believed him. It didn’t work so when I called back I got someone else and after some argument she finally told me “OK I am going to put in an order for repair, but if the repairman can find no line problem, it will cost you $85 an hour. Needless to say the guy found the problem and fixed it.

The next time, I called on the bad computer line and static was so bad she could hardly understand me. After looking at my account, she said you have another line, why didnt you call on that line. I told her because she wouldn’t believe me that I had a bad line. She got pi@@ed, poor broad.

Does anyone want to consider this? OK it may sound dumb.

However, there is evidence that al Quida is recruiting whites and other non mid eastern looking people to commit terrorist acts. There are people all over Iraq blowing themselves up in crowded places.

Is it beyond the realm of belief that we now have people who go on massacres in places where lots of people congregate and just start shooting.

OTOH I am tired of seeing so called analyst come on TV and speak as if they know exactly what is going on and make stupid comments when they have no idea of what is happening. It is these people who cause media frenzy and get rumors going that never should see the light of day.

Me and my Navy buds used to sit at the bar and make up conversations to go with the expressions. I think some beer company may have used them at one time to put in bars with ads. Seems that was the only place we saw them a lot LOL

And who knew in our nations capital ...........

There are clubs that are allowed to admit minors where alcohol is served when "live music venues" are brought in. Apparently there is no requirement that the minor be with an adult and in some clubs, alcohol is served to minors -- big surprise!!!

An article in the Outlook section of the Wapo Sunday edition by Marc Fisher talks about the clubs, and how city officials are afraid to take any action because it either hurts the clubs or some parents from the suburbs would complain.
