DOHA (AFP) - Iranian Defense Minister Ali Shamkhani warned that Iran might launch a preemptive strike against US forces in the region to prevent an attack on its nuclear facilities. "We will not sit (with arms folded) to wait for what others will do to us. Officials at a federal prison in New York hindered an investigation that determined that as many as 20 guards abused detainees who were picked up shortly after the Sept. 11 attacks, the Justice Department reported Thursday. Investigators found hundreds of videotapes that officials at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn had said were destroyed or erased, according to a report by the department's internal watchdog, Inspector General Glenn A.
