If you actually looked at why those things were said in the Quran and why Muhammad-saw did what he did, you would understand that Islam does not preach violence. In the same way that Christianity has extremists who don't look at why things were said and to whom, Islam also has followers that take the Quran literally. When the Quran says fight Christians, it was talking to the Muslims at the time who were being persecuted by Christians. Also, nowhere in the Quran does it agree with suicide bombers or forcing non-Muslims to embrace Islam. Many people think that they know other religious Books, when in fact all they know is what they have been taught or have read. This is not always the correct interpretation of the Book because everything we read has been written with an agenda. I suggest that you read the Quran and the Bible but without any presuppositions.
