  • What movie do you hate that everyone else loved?

    It’s not

It makes a difference in how you view the films.

If you had read the books it may prejudice how you see the movie.

Most of the time if I have read the book and I then see the film, I interpret the book differently than the screen writer did and hate the film. Of course you can not force a 625 page book in to fa 2 hour movie effectively.

I read Dune when 16 and saw the film when I was 25 and hated it. Some People I know thought the movie good. No accounting for taste.

Reading the book can influence how you see the movie. Anyone who reads a book experiences it differently.

I read the Lord of the Rings when I was 18. 37 years ago. I liked the movies. I understood what was happening in the movie differently than you.

Reading the books can change your understanding of the movie.

If you read the books and see the movie again it could change your enjoyment of the movie.

Personally I would rather see the movie before I read the book most of the time.

If I like the movie I probably will like the book.. But invariably the book is better and the screen writer gets it wrong.

Maybe I’m a cruel bad person, but I find that stuff really funny

We all are in one way or another.

It is human nature to laugh at the weakness and foilbles of others.

Sure, the best of us don’t laugh in someone’s face at a truly tragic failing on someone’s part but in a movie theater we are allowed to laugh at a well-played farce.

And stereotypes are funny because they so often play true. And if a person can’t take a joke that plays on their ethnic stereotype they a weak and not deserving of the respect they are demanding when they complain about the insensitivity of the jokester.

And Hollywood is failing to deliver because they are cowards before the PC Police.

Around the World in 80 Days. I cannot sit through it.

I thought the original was good.

The Jacki Chan remake, not so much.

Gravity. A totally implausible plot and a puzzling and unsatisfying ending.

Granted the plot as a whole was implausible.

But the visuals were fantastic. And it is the only space movie to actually put on film crashes in space with no sounds of breaking glass or taring metal. Actual silence as a space station is shredded.

It was far more realistic than pretty much any other space movie in that respect.

non-PC comedies that nobody dares to make anymore-moviemakers have lost the ability to laugh at themselves...

First you tell the truth then you back off of it.

The truth is that Hollywood is scare $hitless of the monster they helped create.

They are deathly afraid to offend anyone but White Heterosexual Males.

They have the ability to make movies like Blazing Saddles but they afraid to make a movie that might offend a protected minority.

Only people like Spike Lee are permitted to make an offensive movie, Too bad Spike is only interested in making drek.

    but he’s no Eddie Murphy.

Now there is an actor who has wasted his talents.

In my opinion the last good movie he did (maybe the only good movie) was Hollywood Cop.

Now, as we enter the 2018 midterm season, we still have some who just can’t stand that Trump won, that he’s president, and that Hillary Clinton will never be president—ever. Enter Gloria Steinem who says she doesn’t think Trump is president because he lost by 10 million votes. No, he didn’t

I have news for you Omar; America has been pretty sharply divided since the election of Richard Nixon.

The Deep Red Left in this country hated Nixon and would not accept him as president. I don’t know why because Nixon was damned liberal himself.

After Nixon the Left went to war against Ronald Regan. Anyone who was conscious during the 1980s knew that the Left was ecstatic when Regan was shot by John Hinkley.

Then came the Bushes and again the Left could not bear the thought of either Bush in the White House. The Left made up tall tales and lies of every kind to prevent his election. And in Florida they tried to recount the votes until Man-Bear-Pig (Al Gore) won.

No, this country has been sharply divided since the Viet Nam War and the Communist Party of America invaded and took control of the Democrat Party.

Communist by their nature demand a single party system and any time they are not in total control they must attack constantly until they have regained control. The Democrat Party can no longer fit in to the roll of the 'Loyal Opposition'.

It’s been more than ten years since I was a member but when I was not that many people showed for the CMP shoots. And if what I hear is true they will be asking market prices for the guns.

If it was me; I would not be paying market price for a used gun sight unseen.

If this is all true I would think anyone who wants one should stand a good chance of getting one.

And by the way, the really desirable collectable 1911s will be auctioned and not sold through the CMP.

Yes he did Gloria. The Congress of the United States accepted that Trump won fair and square. Even one of your favorites Joe Biden thinks that people like you are an embarrassment.

Trump Electoral college win certified despite Democratic objections .

Maybe it’s time you accept the truth. Hillary is a LOSER. So are you by the way.

I remember pre-1968 when you could buy guns and gas at the same place. Cash and carry.

    I don’t see why you couldn’t today.

Except that most gas stations today sell booze. At least in my state they frown of that combination of booze and guns. You have to choose one or the other.

But in a town near me there was a grocery store that had a gun store that you accessed from inside the grocery store. Technically not the same establishment but owned by the same people.

I was sorry to hear this past year that the gun store that had been there for decades had closed.

The black students admit to stealing yet the Liberals say it’s racism when someone attempts legal action against the black thieves. This has gone way to far.

Sometimes I think I am living in an Outer Limits episode.

I really don’t recognize this as the United States I grew up in.

For that matter, the entire world doesn’t make any sense anymore. What was the Free World after WW II that had conquered Fascism has now embraced that hideous ideology while calling it Progressivism.

Dave Gibson, the bakery's owner, says the lawsuit is about standing up for his right to crack down on shoplifting without being branded as a racist. The suit says Oberlin demanded that he stop pushing criminal charges on first-time shoplifters and call school deans instead.

Maybe Oberlin should cut one of their sensitivity classes for freshman and replace it with a class that teaches the new students that theft is wrong and illegal.

Along with remedial English and math maybe they need remedial morality.

  • Gun store owner says Weber City bridge construction hurting her business

    Pontiac to Tolerance Sucks Rocks
As construction on the Route 23 bridges in Weber City continues, one small business owner has voiced concerns about the effect it’s having on her profits.

My father and uncle owned a gas station in the 1950s. While they owned it the city built a railroad under pass over the in the middle of the block on state highway which the gas station was sitting.

They went out of business because of the disrupted traffic flow.

I wouldn’t think that a gun store would be as much effected as a gas station and the traffic has not be totally detoured as it was with the underpass.

But never the less such projects have a big impact on the businesses located close by. A lot of people will not want to deal with the traffic or want to go very far out of their way and there is really not much the local government can do about it. The only way the project could be shortened is if the state is willing to foot the bill for round the clock work.

Usually the state will only pay for continuous work is for freeway construction that impact major cities.

I thought pot was supposed to make you mellow.

A lot of pot comes laced with other drugs these days.

It is also far more potent than it was in the 1960s/70s which makes its effects more pronounced and different.

Maybe you have read the articles this past week about the marijuana vomiting syndrome now hitting chronic users of marijuana?

Never heard anything like that back in my youth and I knew plenty of daily users.

What I am having trouble with is the idea that an electron jumping from one quantum state to another leaves behind a hole that acts like a particle. For one thing, my understanding is that electrons are not particles as much as they are discreet energy packets. So, how can it leave a hole? And how can a hole behave like an anti-electron?

Actually this is pretty much how semi-conductor theory was explained to me back in the 1980’s.

They even described ‘Hole Flow’ in the opposite direction as electon flow.

    dichalcogenide titanium diselenide (1T-TiSe2).

I have been out of college chemistry for 35 years so perhaps someone more knowledgible than me can explain it.

That formula does not seem to fit that name if I remember my chemistry correctly.
