  • "Obama-size It!" (Price of Food)

You know, if Romney would talk about the skyrocketing price of groceries instead of just the price of gas, he would score a home run. My wife does most the grocery shopping and has sticker shock -every week portions get smaller and prices are higher. My take on this is that we need to add a new phrase to the lexicon: "Obama-size It!" Definition: reduce product size by 1/3 and charge 1/3 more. Anyone who shops to support a family know that our economy has been Obama-sized.
  • Remember When Bush's College Records Were a Big Deal?

I know it would wound Romney to make a big deal out of college records at this point because it would stigmatize him as a "birther," but I can't help but reflect upon when the media made a big deal about Bush's college transcripts a few elections ago. The hypocrisy is astounding. We have so much more to learn from Obama's records than we did from Bush's. With Bush the questions basically were "Was he a drunken frat boy who barely squeaked by?" "Did Daddy pull strings to get you into school?" "Will his grades help us prove he was/is...
  • Vanity: Offend Your Liberal Friends - A Critique of Mainstream Journalists

self, this here post | 09-24-2012 | self
We have the first slacker stoner president. He is beloved by journalists who were and are themselves slackers and stoners - opinions without achievements, wielders of easy, worthless degrees paid for by their parents, minds filled with debris and the occasional scraps from great thinkers but witho...ut the mental effort to understand, attain, earn, or contextualize the scraps. Slackers and stoners are not the poor nor do they sympathize with the poor, they only utilize them -they are the spoiled children of the upper middle class and rich -they are almost singularly the children of people who worked hard. They...

I am posting the whole parody so's you don't have to go to the source URL and/or call me a blog pimp (but you can - it's free), but baby woke me up early and I wrote this parody of a diary of a college kid at the Wall Street "occupation." Enjoy. It came to me in an inspired bit of sleeplessness and may reflect as much. But it made me laugh.
  • Vanity: Watch Out for the Media to Attempt an "East Coast Results" Firewall

self - like I said, this is a vanity | self
I predict the media will try to stem the 2010 conservative tide by telling us "the East Coast elections are coming in stronger for Democrats than pundits thought. Exit polls are showing that voters do not trust Republicans because of [X,Y Z - insert Dem taking point]. We may in for a surprising evening, Bill..." They will do this to try to make conservatives across the rest of the nation give up, stay home, and thereby toss close elections to the Dims. I saw this in my crystal ball. This is why they give a damn about O'Donnell. You have...
  • No More Massive Bills Until a Few Pages of Transcripts

A simple proposition that Congrssmen should communicate - no more considering of massive bills until they get to read the few pages that constitute Obama's college transcripts. A simple trade. They may even want to waive requiring a week or 48 hours to read them. All in the name of transparency. Just a few pages of documents, from the most powerful man in the world to the people he asks to trust him with their nation.
  • Administration Seeks to Limit Professional Athletes' Pay [it's SATIRE, folks!]

Noting that professional athletes often make tens of millions of dollars a year for "playing games" while average Americans are struggling to pay their mortgages, the Obama administration announced Wednesday that it has appointed a special master to evaluate and reduce the pay of most professional athletes. "It is an injustice to Americans everywhere that these aloof public figures should make scandalous salaries wholly disproportionate to their actual contributions to society. In light of this, a special master has been appointed to assist Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner in calculating new salaries for them that more fairly represent what they actually...
  • If the Government Does Own Stakes in GM and Chrysler...

If the Government does acquire stakes in GM and Chrysler, they should immediately issue and award an equal number of shares to every legal citizen of the United States. Divide a $60 billion stake per 250-odd million citizens and be done with it. I do not trust the Department of Treasury to hold our stake in trust for us. They should give each of us our stake, let us buy and sell them in the market as normal, let us elect a board of directors, and manage OUR company. I se nothing unreasonable in this. In dact, Congress should demand...

As a working American, you have paid roughly 12% of all your earnings into Social Security. Is this your money? In my opinion it certainly is. The government took it from you with the promise that it would manage it wisely for you and provide for your future retirement. Please underscore that last part: the government took your money because it deemed itself more capable than you for providing for you in your golden years. Let us begin with the assertion, then, that this is your money. Upon your retirement the government owes it to you, with interest. The trouble...

We need to fix the problem of colleges sending graduates out into the world with mountains of debt and degrees that are increasingly deflated because everyone gets one. The sources of this problem are the three-fold: 1) college prices are high because everyone wants in (supply and demand), 2) degrees are worth less because universities grant them with increasing rapidity while holding students to increasingly low academic standards, and 3) government has the misplaced idea that it is somehow democratic to fund college education based on economic standards and not student merit. Government policy toward education should be to assist...

The Wolf Inside the Fence 03-25-2009Taxes are high and debt is crushing because government has exceeded its bounds. It has exceeded its original scope as defined in the Constitution, in which we give it some of our power so that it may safeguard all of our liberties. States have lost a great deal of their independence because they are beholden to federal tax dollars, and as such they no longer represent the best interests of their people. States do not provide relief from the federal government; instead, they empower the federal government to keep taxes high so that they can...
  • Regulation-Free Enterprise Zones (Vanity)

I think the Republican congress should propose regulation-free enterprise zones (free enterprise zones)in which businesses can operate underhindered by burdensome fed regulations and, if they prosper, reciprocate the favor through taxes on their profits. Such zones would be for businesses needed to secure energy independence and revive the national economy; they could include but not be limited to: nuclear energy/plant construction, coal mining and oil/gas drilling, auto and electronics manufacting, etc. Tasks that a) involve real creation of wealth and products, and b) make our nation less dependent on the whims of foreign markets. Lift most fed regulations (al onerous...
  • "Lurching" a Dig at McCain's Torture Injuries

Notice how both Biden and Obama use the verb "lurch" in interviews right after the town hall debate, in which McCain walked the floor and obviously displayed a gait afflicted by his torture at he hands of the VietCong (see rest below)

I am shamelessly sharing my alternative Obama song. It aims at bathos. I imagine the theme from Rawhide, but I'm not sure of the tune, just the words: The Legend of Obama Travelin’ the range to make wrongs right Bringing HOPE where none’s in sight A bedroll for his bed tonight. Obama! The legend of his hope proceeds him, He’s there when Ayers and Rezko needs him, ACORNS is enough to feeds him. Obama! A lonely man with past unknown, An ego with a microphone, To let his scant career be known. Obama! Don’t ask too closely - just elect...

Now is the time for McCain to show the world what caused this crisis, what the golden calf is, and what he will do to skewer it once and for all. McCain, compromise has no place in the Bailout Debate. Take the gloves off if you want to win in November. It is a target rich environment. Show the American people the failed housing projects Obamam built in Chicago, then show Barney Frank again and again and again. Cionvince us you want to win - AS A REPUBLICAN.

I am disgusted to see the financial crisis headlines dominated by the musing of Frank, Dodds, and other tired sad Dem warhorses. My suggestion to knock them off the top of the headlines is to have Gov. Palin hold a press conference and read a statement on behalf of the McCain campaign, similar to the one posted in the Corner at NRO. If Palin made s statement on behalf of the McCain campaign, the media would be compelled against their better (worse) natures to cover it. The allure of an opportunity to exercise their condescension would not allow otherwise. Her...
  • Palin Should GO on SNL and Imitate Tina Fey

Okay, instead of getting collective panties in a wad over Tina Fey's somehwat bimbo-ish impersonation of Palin, McCain's camp should ask if Palin can go on SNL and imitate Tina Fey. She could briefly sit in for Fey on the news and do an impression of her would-be counterpart. Fey herself is ripe for parody - she practically "plays herself" these days (smug + smarmy + smart), and when a personaility is that well defined, a chance for parody is ripe. It could be fun and funny, and show good sportsmanship. SNL has always been game for a little self-deprecation.
