  • The Olympics Versus Wokery

The Olympics are upon us and we will see nationalism to its upmost. So, what happens with the “USA Sucks” crowd? The athletes who have been poisoned in Anti-Americanism are a lost cause. Despite the fact that they are paid to compete for a country that they think they hate, they accept the money and run (or swim, or whatever) for The United States of America. I am interested in seeing middle America’s reaction. Does our majority encourage wokery? Do we turn our backs on our misguided competitors? Or do we root for America to win no matter the means?...

This is a total vanity. I recently gave a TEDx Talk to college students. I had a great time, and I truly hope they listened.

I believe that we are in a war, a war that we have no idea how to fight. We don’t understand the rules of engagement. Our opponents have a take no prisoners attitude and we just want to be nice to everyone. On top of that, most of us are too busy taking care of ourselves and our families to want to engage in warfare with people that we have no animus towards. Additionally, we are much too comfortable to risk what we have to run off tilting at windmills. So the slide into totalitarianism continues. It is, however, reaching...

As the main stream media continues its downward spiral and bureaucrats ponder strategies for maintaining their powers in the midst of a conservative resurgence, the possibility of limiting our access to conservative thought as in the “Fairness Doctrine” or the constant decrying of Fox News and Rush Limbaugh, becomes a greater and greater consideration. Yet, conservatism springs anew with the availability of more information. Rush Limbaugh is fond of expressing the idea that liberals worry that you will learn the truth and conservatives worry that you won’t. As we break free of the increasingly blatant leftward bias of traditional news...

Although I am very happy with the events so far in New York and I support both Hoffman's run against a liberal GOP Candidate and the conservative statement to the GOP, I have some concerns. I think that Hoffman's campaign will encourage more independents to buck the GOP establishment. While I think that this is necessary in showing the GOP that the conservative grass roots don’t want the establishment’s compromising, weak spined, unprincipled moderates, when will conservative enough be conservative enough? There are few politicians that espouse the (small l) libertarian, small government philosophies that I believe in. I am...

Every 9 or 10 years I am pulled to reread Atlas Shrugged. I don’t know why and I disagree with some of Ayn Rand’s personal beliefs, but sometimes I feel the need to remind myself of the message of industry and excellence. This time around I am listening to the book on my iPod. The section I heard yesterday is one of my favorite parts of the book. Dagny is riding in the cab of a locomotive, at 100 miles per hour on the rails of the newly completed John Galt Line. This is her triumph, having cleared all of...

Congress gave final approval yesterday to legislation that will bring more Americans under the umbrella of “disabled” under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). President Bush said he’d sign the bill (S. 3406). The ADA Amendments Act of 2008 reverses several court rulings from recent years that had limited the scope of ADA protections. It directs U.S. courts to apply a broader definition when deciding what truly qualifies as an ADA-covered disability. The biggest change: The bill makes clear that courts (and employers) should not take into consideration any “mitigating measures” that reduce the impact of an impairment—such as medication,...
  • Don't oversleep in Hemet. It's a felony

Apparently it is more egregious to oversleep in Hemet, California than it is to commit armed robbery. After delivering a pizza Jeremy Queen was robbed at gunpoint then hit on the head with the weapon. The police were called, the report was made and the police drove Mr. Queen around in their squad car to see if they could find who had attacked him. They couldn't and have said they probably never will. Back at work Mr. Queen was chastised for taking so long to make the delivery and told that since the delivery was made, he was no longer...
