~Young Goodman Brown~ I have yet to hear a finer reading of Hawthorne's classic story than this version recorded by Basil Rathbone. It is moody, chilling, insightful and masterfully dramatic as Rathbone imparts his unique style to each of the voiced characters. Here you will find the essence of true horror. Not the blood and guts of a slasher movie. Nor the melodrama of Vampires and Werewolves. But the real horror that lies in the corruption of sin in the human heart. Listen - and then pray for the coming of the dawn... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPhQCJ6waLI

They've been taking it from us by inches for decades. Now we find ourselves being sold into slavery while hiking. Permit me a flashback. Once upon a time I, along with a host of other young ambitious suit and tie types made the most of travel as a tool of the trade. Marketing involved a lot more personal selling back then and it was best done face to face. Perhaps just as important as product, pricing and promotions was the ease of personal mobility. And more than just an economic tool it was our God given right of personal association...

That’s some nuanced nuance right there. The ISIS Jihadists just want to join John Kerry for a meal at a fancy restaurant. Maybe he can invite them on over. Kerry introduced the topic of what motivates terror recruits. “Why do people make what to many of us would seem to be an utterly wrongheaded choice and become the kind of terrorists that we’re seeing?” he asked. “It’s a question that we need to approach with humility, but also with determination, because you cannot defeat what you don’t understand.” “Certainly, there is no single answer,” Kerry continued. “In our era, poisonous...

When a criminal attacks police with a weapon, there are cases where they can probably take him down without using lethal force, but let’s be realistic. Once you attack police with a weapon capable of causing harm, they’re not obligated to pussyfoot around. And anyone who does that needs to keep something that basic in mind. Or get shot. The rallying cry in Ferguson was “Hands up, don’t shoot!” In New York, it was “I can’t breathe!” In Pasco these days, the protest signs say things like “It was just a rock!!!” In a case with unmistakable echoes of Ferguson...

Dr. Ben Carson, author of "One Nation: What We Can All Do to Save America's Future," argued that while Officer Darren Wilson did nothing wrong in the fatal shooting of Michael Brown, police should be better trained in non-lethal force such as shooting aggressors in the legs on Tuesday's "Hugh Hewitt Show." >snip< He specified "for instance, in a lot of places, police officers aren’t even allowed to go into the more dangerous areas by themselves. They’re always paired. Or you know, people use tasers, people learn how to shoot people in the legs to stop them from charging, things...

Prince Charles's coronation should include a reading from the Koran, a Church of England Bishop has said. Lord Harries of Pentregarth, a retired Bishop of Oxford, said that such a gesture at the traditionally Anglican service would be "creative" and make Muslims feel "embraced" by the nation. Speaking in the House of Lords yesterday, the retired bishop, who continues to serve as an assistant in the Anglican diocese of Southwark, said that the Church of England should be "exercising its historic position in a hospitable way." Speaking of a civic service held at Bristol Cathedral last year, he said that...

DALLAS, Texas -- Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins bragged to reporters about wearing the same shirt to the press conference he wore while he was, just thirty minutes earlier, driving the family exposed to the Ebola virus to their new secret luxury four-bedroom home. The international assembly of reporters were attending the Judge’s press conference in the Dallas County Administration Building formerly known as the Texas Schoolbook Depository. This is the same building from where Lee Harvey Oswald allegedly shot President John F. Kennedy. Jenkins bragged to the reporters that he was “wearing the same shirt” he wore while he...

Todd Starnes By Todd Starnes Published July 01, 2014 FoxNews.com A government-contracted security force threatened to arrest doctors and nurses if they divulged any information about the contagion threat at a refugee camp housing illegal alien children at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, sources say. In spite of the threat, several former camp workers broke their confidentiality agreements and shared exclusive details with me about the dangerous conditions at the camp. They said taxpayers deserve to know about the contagious diseases and the risks the children pose to Americans. I have agreed to not to disclose their...

Well, it’s official, New Jersey has jumped the shark on gun control (if they already hadn’t). According to NJ2AS, the state has banned several types of popular, high end, air rifles. Specifically, any air rifle that is made to be quieter by design. One example of this is the Gamo Whisper line of rifles. These rifles make great pest control rifles for people that own some land, but don’t want to disturb nearby neighbors with the sounds of traditional firearms. From the NJ2AS report, The New Jersey Second Amendment Society recently obtained a copy of the letter from Lieutenant Joseph...

Your prayers are humbly requested for one of our long-time FReepers, Salamander and her new puppy Halla. Halla is six weeks old and by rights should still be with her mother. Salamander had to take her and rescue her from an incompetent breeder who had let her get worms along with some serious other problems. The pup was not eating, shaking and may have some neurological damage. The vets have confirmed a cranial injury, but do not yet know how severe. A moment out of your busy day (or night) to offer up a word to The Lord for both...
