This should have really been news and had the words been uttered by a Republican, it surely would be.

Businesses complain about town code that regulates size and number of American flags David Oudshoorn, who flies about a half-dozen American flags in front of the Shell station in Hampton Bays, may soon run into problems with the law. It could come in the form a new Southampton town code that limits businesses to displaying no more than two American flags, none larger than 60 square feet.

With the release of the Duelfer report today comes official, I suppose thats the term, word that there were no WMD's in Iraq. Before addressing this any further lets look back at Charles Duelfer's report in March of this year and see what he had to say. These are excerpts from his address to Congress on March 30, 2004 "It has now been six weeks since I arrived in Baghdad as the DCI’s Special Advisor for WMD in Iraq. In that time I have begun my examination of the efforts of the Group, its accomplishments, and capabilities. Certainly, General Dayton...

I have heard many times this years election called the most important in our lifetime. Does it really matter who is in office, which man, which party? I grew up in the age of Kennedy, Johnson and Nixon. A time when the world was also a scary place. In grammer school we would have drills where we prepared for a nuclear attack. In retrospect it seems kind of funny since putting our head between our knees we might as well have been kissing our ass goodbye if it were a real attack. Although I didn't agree with Kennedy or Johnson...

Three Iraqis who aided the CIA in the March 20 attempt by the United States to kill Iraqi President Saddam Hussein were executed this week by Iraqi counterintelligence, former and serving U.S. officials told United Press International. A super-secret U.S. intelligence operation, working in Baghdad for weeks before the war, provided the crucial targeting data for the attack on Saddam and his sons, launched in an effort to pre-empt a full-scale war, these sources said, speaking on condition of anonymity. The war had been scheduled to start Friday, March 21, U.S. officials told UPI. But -- after getting intelligence that...

This war may not be about oil in the first place, but to argue that the United States is committing more than 300,000 armed men and women to the single area of the world sitting atop two-thirds of the global oil reserves without having oil on its mind is a bit of a stretch.

Tuesday, April 1, 2003 I flew to Killeen, Texas, last week to visit my son, Frank Jr., who grew up in North Massapequa. He is a private first class with the Army's 4th Infantry Division, based at Fort Hood, Texas. Frank had called me earlier in the week to say his unit had finally received its deployment orders for Iraq. Since the 4th Infantry had originally been put on standby status in January, I knew it was just a matter of time before he would be heading out. He said he'd be leaving by the weekend. I booked a flight...

Charles Lindbergh warns America against entering into a war it cannot win, New York, NY, April 23, 1941 There are many viewpoints from which the issues of this war can be argued. Some are primarily idealistic. Some are primarily practical. One should, I believe, strive for a balance of both. But, since the issues that can be covered in a single address are limited, tonight I shall discuss the war from a viewpoint which is primarily practical. It is not that I believe ideals are unimportant, even among the realities of war; but if a nation is to survive in...

When in England at a fairly large conference, Colin Powell was asked by the Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an example of empire building by George Bush. He answered by saying that, "Over the years, the United States has sent many of its fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for in return is enough to bury those that did not return." It became very quiet in the room.

Defeat Troops, Professor Says Wants 'a million Mogadishus' By Ron Howell STAFF WRITER March 28, 2003 At an anti-war "teach-in" this week, a Columbia University professor called for the defeat of American forces in Iraq and said he would like to see "a million Mogadishus" - a reference to the Somali city where American soldiers were ambushed, with 18 killed, in 1993. "The only true heroes are those who find ways that help defeat the U.S. military," Nicholas De Genova, an assistant professor of anthropology and Latino studies at Columbia University, told the audience at Low Library Wednesday night. "I...

This is an assignment my 8th grade son brought home: Object: Students will be able to explain the serious meaning behind a facetious figurative statement. A conservative is a liberal who's been mugged. A liberal is a conservative who's been wrongly arrested. Where you stand depends on where you sit Your assignment: based on what you infer from the above statements, write the opinions the writer would expect from a liberal...........a conservative

On this day, November 11, I feel compelled to take a moment and give the thanks and praise to all the veterans both past and present that have assured the freedom we all enjoy today. To honor all those brave soldiers from the Battles of the American Revolution to the war we now wage in Afghanistan. God bless all the souls of those who have perished and God protect those who battle on. God Bless America

Hope this is the right place to post this.....still learning here so forgive me if it is not. Is anyone else concerned? Seems odd to me that they are not telling us where this guy might have caught this from, just that he has it. The first thing I thought of was that supposed missing crop duster plane, wasn't that near Florida? All very strange.

I am no writer, which will be evident as you proceed. I only ask that you indulge me as I vent about something that is bothering me. I have not seen this said anywhere, nor have I heard it said by anyone. It became evident very early on in this attack that there is a great deal of censorship taking place. Other than the first few pictures of people that jumped from buildings, has anyone seen a dead body? I understand this may be a sensitive issue in which the media is trying to be tactful. The same media ...
