Apparently, an anti-smuggling detail (described as "undercover, but wearing jackets" and driving a car marked "US Border Patrol" on the front) attempted to stop a vehicle loaded with illegal aliens in Escondido. They bailed out, but an uncertain number were arrested. One agent remained on the scene when a person suspected of being part of the original group returned to the scene in another vehicle and an altercation ensued.
