Several things in bold due to the fact that this is a LONG read. Apologies that there really isn't a proper title for this press release. I didn't see this posted. Added to "Breaking News" due to the fact that the UN has the arrogance to omit the US from its list of "page after page of countries" which have contributed. Please remove from "Breaking News" if you deem appropriate. Thank you. New York, 30 December 2004 - Secretary-General Kofi Annan and UN's Emergency Relief Coordinator Jan Egeland at press conference on Asian Tsunami disaster SG: Let me thank you for coming. This...

FReepers, has anyone heard the woman singing opera, to promote Rush's show? It's a commerical/promo usually played during his show. I'm wondering if there's a (legal, of course) MP3 of that promo clip, anywhere. Searched the internet and can't find it. The promo is sung to Puccini's "O Mio Babbino Caro." Thanks for any help!!!
  • Best FReeper Taglines?

Merry Christmas, everyone! I hope you all have had a day which, so far, has exceeded the greatest of your expectations! Like myself, many of you have probably taken note of some exceptional taglines used by many, many FReepers. Are there any taglines which REALLY caught your attention? If so, please post them here. I have found quite a few to be incredibly memorable; however, I'm sure there's many that I've missed. I didn't see another thread which collected a "best of" taglines, so I figured I'd start one.... Again, Merry Christmas to all, and Happy New Year as well!!!!
  • Anyone have DISH TV and get stuck on this screen?

    12/17/2004 2:29:13 PM PST · by streetrepair · 15 replies · 439+ views
I have Satellite Dish TV and my dog came and startled me, I hit a button, got this screen and can't get off of it. I tried calling customer support but the ETA is long, long, long. Pressing the "0" to go BACK does NOTHING!!! If anyone has seen this screen and knows how to get the TV back to normal, I'd be most appreciate for your suggestions. Sorry for two vanities this close to one another -- I posted them in chat. Thank you! Photo loading...

Hi folks, I have been right-clicking, going into properties everywhere, but can't seem to find a way to show all of my programs, without an arrow appearing. The arrow appears right below MS Word, in the photo below. Does anyone know how to get rid of this "show me more" arrow, so that all the programs pop up automatically? Many thanks..... • Virus running in the background -- Norton doesn't help

    12/04/2004 10:11:38 AM PST · by streetrepair · 49 replies · 2,517+ views
Hi Folks, Was trying to fix a friend's PC last night. She's running XP Home and uses a cable modem for access to the internet. As soon as you boot up the machine, dozens of Internet Explorer windows start running in the background, flooding the system, and thereby grinding web performance/access to a halt almost immediately. I ran Norton Anti-Virus 2005 and it found no problem. I also ran AVG anti-virus software and that too found no problem. If anyone has ideas on what I can do to kill whatever it is that's running in the background, causing this, I'd...
  • CBS *PREPARING* for havoc? (CBS's own web page on controversy born 9/6, two days before interview!)

FReepers, I first must say how impressed I am (not to mention thankful) for Howlin and Buckhead, and all others who broke this story before anyone else, including Drudge, et el. I stated this (gasp) Vanity thread as I believe I have found evidence of premeditation on the part of CBS. I am particularly suspicious of a CBS web page with the title: "More Controversy Over Bush Docs" Once clicking on the link, you should see up in your address bar the following: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/09/06/politics/main641481.shtml My eyes latched onto the date in the URL -- 2004/09/06 (the 6th was last Monday)....
