When some homosexual couple comes to your Christian business for services at their immoral event, don’t panic. Go ahead and take their business! Then explain what is going to happen next.

The U.S. has been accused of blackmail by Uganda, after President Barack Obama's administration cut funding to Uganda and cancelled a joint military exercise. LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - This action is a response to a new Ugandan law which criminalizes homosexuality, and Ugandan official Ofwono Opondo was not happy. "We think it is simply blackmail," he said. "We have said it before, homosexuality is not a fundamental human right. In our own constitution, it is not guaranteed as a fundamental right."

"Up until very recently, marriage had been universally thought of as consisting of three essential characteristics: conjugality, permanence, and exclusivity. This had been more or less reflected in our laws." (Worth the Read!)

A Catholic Navy Chaplain, who sued the Department of Defense and the Navy after he was banned from celebrating Mass at a Georgia naval base during the recent Government shutdown, appears to be the target of a Federal government retaliation.

Patterico unearthed something that, to my knowledge, had not been reported previously: a November 2011 Business Week article about the business operations of non-profit universities that concludes with this: Lois Lerner, the IRS’s director of tax-exempt organizations who is overseeing the investigation, says many schools are rethinking how and what they report to the government. Receiving a thick questionnaire from the IRS, she says, is a “behavior changer.”

Think about it: An Iranian man arrives in Germany from Turkey, fails to report that he is carrying more than 10,000 euros in financial instruments, a check for Bs. 300 million (more than US$ 60 million at the official rate of exchange) is found in his briefcase and he seems to care little if the check is taken from him. "On the border of Holland and Germany in Dusseldorf, a man from Iran was arrested for having a check for 300.000.000 Bsf (54 million euro) from Banco Venezuela in his suitcase."

At most inaugural events the sartorial buzz is about what designer dress the First Lady is wearing. But yesterday everyone was more interested in a Supreme Court Justice’s hat. Many people were left wondering: Why is Antonin Scalia wearing a renaissance era painter’s hat?

The state, with its main duties, the taking care of everyone, defines what is important from now on. One might say that our people coldly looked the Leviathan in its eyes. They did not flinch as he brought them into his body. These are dramatic observations, no doubt. We now wait to see what happens next. We have established who is in power. We will not pass this way again. And in establishing who is to rule us, we reveal our own souls. The liberty to do whatever we want that Aristotle spoke of while describing democracies is now firmly...

In June of this past year, photos of a Chinese woman and her dead child flooded the Internet, accompanied by the account of how Feng Jianmei was abducted from her home and forced to undergo a late-term abortion by local family-planning officials. Mrs. Feng’s story spread across international news headlines and provoked outrage by national governments. The European Parliament issued a terse statement calling the incident “unacceptable.” A recent article makes the case that any law which restricts abortion--such as waiting periods or parental consent--is the equivalent of China's brutal forced abortion policy that victimized Mrs. Feng. The article from...

I know I speak for many, many other mothers out there this morning and I know they would say the same thing I am about to say. The United States has just elected Barack Obama to a second term as President. News reports tell us that the narrow victory may have hinged on the women’s vote. It appears that the “lady parts” rhetoric about how women’s rights depend on contraception and abortion resonated with enough American women that it affected the election. They didn’t want to “do it with just anybody.” No, it had to be with a “really great...

Doctors across America are sick. A new and desperate plight has surfaced in emergency rooms across the nation for both patients and doctors alike. The following blog by one valiant doctor speaks for thousands of doctors being forced to go against their natural instincts and abilities to allow further hospital care and re-admit patients. Effective October 2012, doctors at hospitals across the land are being forced by the Obama administration to break their Hippocratic Oath. Obama's revamped Medicare has now begun forcing doctors at hospitals to turn their backs on patients no matter how critical their need for re-admittance. Obamacare...

Obamacare is a monumental house of horrors. Open a door and find another monster. Robert Samuelson opens the door on the law’s distinction between full-time and part-time workers. You think Obamacare might have something to do with suppressing the growth of full-time employment? Consider Samuelson’s observations.

A robust economy is not only an economic imperative; it is a moral and cultural imperative. A robust economy makes honorable work possible for all who wish to be responsible for their own lives and the lives of their loved ones. And work, according to Blessed John Paul II in the 1983 encyclical Laborem Exercens, is an expression of our participation in God’s sustaining “creation” of the world. A robust economy makes possible the empowerment of the underprivileged—the true “preferential option for the poor” in Catholic social doctrine, according to John Paul’s 1991 encyclical Centesimus Annus—even as it helps conserve...

PBS recently aired a documentary on women in 6 different countries called, “Half the Sky,” based on the book of the same name, by Nicholas Kristof and his wife, Sheryl WuDunn. Countries featured in the documentary were Sierra Leon, where rape as a weapon of choice during the civil war there has now become mainstream; Cambodia, where sex-trafficking brothels are filled with younger and younger girls who are locked up and even caged, made to take “clients” non-stop; Viet Nam where girls, especially from the countryside, are discriminated out of educations and left with little hope for much of a...

Deaf Black Women Not Diverse Enough for College This is unbelievable. A deaf black women who acts as a diversity officer at a college isn't diverse enough for the college. I know what you're thinking. Deaf. Black. Sure sounds like the college hit the diversity jackpot. I mean she's not 1/8 Cherokee like Elizabeth Warren but hey, deaf and black is pretty darn diverse. You know, their Human Resources guy won some kind of diversity award when they hired her. I bet there's a plaque right next to his night school diploma. But it turns out that the the black...

To place the weekend’s polls into perspective, Matt Drudge offers some historic flashbacks: ◠POLL: O 49% R 45%… ◠FLASHBACK: CARTER +4 OVER REAGAN IN SEPT 1980 [+8 IN OCT]… ◠FLASHBACK: DUKAKIS +17 OVER BUSH AFTER DNC 1988… As William A. Jacobson writes at his Legal Insurrection blog, “Operation Demoralize is Working Just as Planned”: It’s November 7. Barack Obama has won. The Republican presidential strategy has failed. The media is jubilant. The right-blogosphere is going through a serious introspection. The left-blogosphere is dancing on our graves and shoving it down our throats. Four years of fighting the...

The tyrant is always among the most important to understand. ...snip.... What else strikes us as odd is that the tyrant almost invariably arises out of a democracy. Democracy breeds tyrants. We are loath to hear it. But we are also reluctant to examine the guiding spirit of the actual regimes we designate as “democratic.” A democracy is a regime in which “freedom” rules. Here “freedom” is defined, not as allowing us to follow what is virtuous, but the relativist permission to do whatever we will. The democratic regime makes no judgment about right or wrong. As a result, right...

Wayne Allyn Root, 2008 Libertarian Party’s Vice Presidential nominee and political commentator, resigned this morning from the Libertarian National Committee (LNC) to, according to his resignation letter, “elect good people and change the direction of this country outside of a third party.” In the letter to the LNC, which is available at Independent Political Report, Root explains that his decision much is not unlike those of previous Libertarian Party presidential candidates, including Ron Paul and David Koch; both of whom left the LP to become prominent Republicans. When I asked if he was now backing Mitt Romney, Root responded, “I...

The Pentagon’s Inspector General discovered nearly half of U.S. military bases abroad lack offices where troops can register to vote or apply for absentee ballots. The Pentagon’s report notes the Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment (MOVE) Act, which President Barack Obama signed into law in 2009, requires an installation voting assistance office (IVAO) on every military base that is not in a war zone. The Pentagon attempted to contact the offices at 229 military bases, but could only reach 114 IVAOs. Republicans have accused the the Obama administration, which just recently sued to make it more difficult for military voters...
