What a surprise, hearing reports that demonize one side. The "good side" of this conflict used to be the "bad guys" and our propaganda machines told us how cold and heartless they were. The Russian troops. I'm not saying for sure that these things are being made up. But, have you seen these reports from witness interviews? How about any of this on film? Maybe you should see this out a little before concluding that obviously these people are animals. People are paid to spread rumours, gossip and fake news stories during war time that will demonize the opposition...
  • Why Did Global Warming Take Hold As World Concern?

In the 1960s, scientists anticipated a New Ice Age. Later, they warned of humans triggering a Nuclear Winter. Now, it's Global Warming. Why this change in emphasis? And why did it take 100 years for the theory behind Global Warming to take hold? New research by scientists from the University of Gloucestershire in the UK indicates that a remarkable combination of circumstances sparked widespread scientific interest in Global Warming in the later decades of the 20th Century. Prof. Frank Chambers and Sally Brain, whose findings are published in The Holocene this month, have used keyword searches in a scientific publications...

Global Warming Natural, May End Within 20 Years, Says Ohio State University Researcher COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Global warming is a natural geological process that could begin to reverse itself within 10 to 20 years, predicts an Ohio State University researcher. The researcher suggests that atmospheric carbon dioxide -- often thought of as a key "greenhouse gas" -- is not the cause of global warming. The opposite is most likely to be true, according to Robert Essenhigh, E.G. Bailey Professor of Energy Conservation in Ohio State's Department of Mechanical Engineering. It is the rising global temperatures that are naturally increasing the ...

The Millennium Contagion Is Your Mental Software Year 2000 Compliant? by Aaron Lynch Thought contagions are beliefs that program for their own copying in humans much as computer viruses do in computers. Their self-spreading effect explains the techno-apocalypse ideas swirling around the Y2K bug, including secular hell-doomsday ideas, logic-resistant strains of myth, and embedded rumors. Knowing this can help everyone, and prevent the panicked departure of programmers and other key personnel just when we need them most. If digital electronics had arrived 100 years earlier, then the multifarious hodgepodge of problems we call Y2K would have gone by a completely ...

Simply put, the bug is a common glitch in computer chips and software that reads only the last two digits of a date and thus could misread the year 2000 as 1900. ``It's a serious challenge to businesses, ...

Washington Post | September 29, 1999 | Rajiv Chandrasekaran, Eric Lipton, and Stephen Barr
US Firms Y2K Confident By Rajiv Chandrasekaran and Eric Lipton and Stephen Barr, Washington Post Staff Writers. September 29, 1999 With less than 100 days to go until the world's computers face their long-awaited moment of electronic judgment, most large U.S. corporations and government agencies say they have almost completed the painstaking and costly chore of inoculating their machines against the "millennium bug." As a result, technology specialists, industry executives and government officials alike now are increasingly confident that ordinary Americans will enter the new year with few electronic disruptions in crucial public services, including electric power, water, telecommunications, transportation, ...

Y2K bug under control, US says Utilities, banks seen set; focus now on smaller firms By Ross Kerber, Globe Staff, 09/30/99 Confident that key computer systems will beat the Y2K bug, government officials are shifting into public-relations mode as Jan. 1, 2000 approaches. Their goal is to build expectations the computer glitch won't cause major disruptions, and in a Boston visit yesterday, John Koskinen, the Clinton administration's chief Y2K adviser, said large Boston utilities, banks and other service providers have done a good job advertising fixes they have made. Attention now should center on smaller companies and public agencies to ...

    Yahoo News(Reuters) | Thursday September 30 8:47 AM ET | Reuters
Buba's Meister: Y2k Problems Mostly Psychological FRANKFURT, Germany (Reuters) - Bundesbank council member Edgar Meister on Thursday said that the greatest risks posed by the Y2K problem were psychological, now that the financial sector has completed a large number of tests and preparations. To help reassure the German public, the Bundesbank has enough cash reserves on-hand so that every German resident could withdraw an additional 3,000 marks around the end of the year, Meister said. ``The remaining risk concerning the changeover into the year 2000 is in my opinion mostly psychological in nature,'' Meister said in the text of a ...
