ATTN Tennessee FReepers: I've read through the anti-mask mandate bill that Gov. Lee signed into law back in November. If a store/business breaks this law, what's the punishment? Is there one? The place I work in Shelby county is still mandating we wear masks. Thank you for your help.

How long does it take an immigrant to physically get into the country if they come in through a legal point-of-entry? In other words, is it a shorter process than the "claiming asylum" route? My research has come up empty.

I have a 1998 Ford Explorer that has a timer for the headlights. Apparently it's messed up because the headlights stay on WAAAAAY longer than they should. I know it's a safety/convenience feature, but it's draining the battery...even a brand new one I put on a month ago. Is there a way to disable the "timer" so that the headlights shut off when the motor does? Thanks in advance for your help.

There was a glitch that wouldn't let anyone post a response the last time I did this, so I'm going to try it again. TheRobb7 My son and I were interested in watching the Xbox play the NFL season against itself in Franchise Mode. We would watch 1 game a week and simulate the rest. PROBLEM : we can't get the Xbox to do it. It will only play against itself in Exhibition Mode, which means that we couldn't compile stats and standings. Does anyone out there know of a work-around?

A little over three months ago, National Review endorsed Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) for Speaker of the House. In doing so, National Review helped place a man with a two-decade history of pushing open borders immigration policies in charge of the Republican Party’s entire legislative agenda. Ten weeks after that endorsement helped Paul Ryan secure the Speakership, Ryan proceeded to swiftly pass an omnibus spending bill that funded and expanded President Obama’s immigration agenda.

I have been Youth Leader at my church (Baptist) for the last 16 years. In that time we have had our ups and downs ministering to teens; the good times and the bad. But never this bad. About 4 years ago, we were averaging 10-15 teens in our group (we're a small church, with attendance in the 80s and 90s.). Then an incident happened which began an unfortunate pattern. "The Incident" (as I call it) involved a Sunday night youth meeting in which I mentioned, in passing, that the Bible condemns homosexuality (the topic was in the news). After everyone...

A co-worker of mine who happens to be gay posted a picture of what was allegedly a church sign saying "I never told LGBT folks they couldn't marry. The bigots don't speak for me. Signed, God." THAT flew all over me. So since they wanted to use religion to justify themselves....I shot back with this series of four jpegs.... Enjoy!

For those who want to legalize gay marriage, there is one major pitfall to consider: the Law of Unintended Consequences. For gay marriage to be legalized, the courts would have to affirm that, from a legal standpoint, a man marrying a man is the same as a man marrying a woman. In other words, manhood and womanhood are the same....a distinction with no legal difference. America being the litigious nation that it has become, somebody, somewhere would bring a case to court in order to codify that very concept. What would be the result? If manhood and womanhood were declared...

Look at how the Media was Blasting GWB just 4 years into his term. Take a gander at the stats....I WISH we could a deficit that low.... [article begins here] Sometimes I sympathize with President Bush. Really. Last week's dismal report on job creation -- a scant 32,000 jobs created versus 240,000 expected -- left our re-election-seeking president little wiggle room on the economic front. "Economic growth is strong and getting stronger," Bush told a gathering of minority journalists after the jobs number was released. It can't be easy to have to defend your economic policies when all evidence suggests...

In another thread I had proposed the idea of doing another Dan’s Bake Sale in downtown Tampa during the Convention. Fellow FReeper "Patton@Bastogne" has expounded in several threads on what could happen once the Tea Party makes its stand.... Imagine...80,000 Tea Party faithful, non violently filling the streets until they are heard. The purpose/result may or may not be to overthrow the nomination process, but at least they could help ensure Conservatism in represented in the Party Platform...with a stern and visible reminder that Tea Partiers will be elected nationwide (all the way down the ballot) to hold the GOP...

A fellow FReeper who was there, mentioned the phenomenon during a recent discussion about how screwed we are with Romney as the GOP standard-bearer. It got me wondering....what if this happened in Tampa during the convention? The same non-violence, the same desire to see conservatism carry the day. I realize that the OWS types will be there protesting, but the effect of 80,000 Tea Partiers on downtown Tampa would be something that couldn't be ignored. Here's the video link from Limbaugh's old TV show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_maXLUDB4k

With Santorum suspending his campaign and reality staring us in the face... With the voters of the remaining primaries given fewer choices.... With Newt not able to gain traction (sadly).... What is left for us? Sitting home is not an option for me. Perhaps if FReepers nation-wide were to contact and pester the slate of delegates in their respective states to break away from their "commitment" and deny Romney a first ballot victory. Of course, the remaining states could still vote for Newt or Ron Paul and deny Romney the magic number. But barring that, the only alternative I see...

DETROIT -- Matthew Stafford led a victory-lap parade around the perimeter of Ford Field, high-fiving fans that have been waiting since 1999 for the Detroit Lions to make the playoffs. With the crowd chanting "Play-offs! Play-offs!" as the final few minutes ticked away, Detroit clinched a postseason spot thanks to Stafford's three touchdown passes in a 38-10 win over the San Diego Chargers on Saturday. Stafford appeared to be touched by the face-to-face interaction with fans hanging over the railing to reach his raised right hand. "You could just get a sense of how much it meant to them," Stafford...

In the spirit of my last posting "Now That We've Crucified Every Candidate.... (Here's Your Chance FReeper Nation)" and due to the great discussion and fostering of ideas put forth by FReeperNation, here's some other ideas to bandy about as we close in on the Hawkeye Caucai (Rush's label): 1) What do you think are the chances of NONE of the candidates getting the magic number of delegates heading in to the convention in Tampa? 2) If that indeed happens, is it a good thing? Why or why not? 3) Finally, if it DOES happen, what ticket do you think...

Now That We've Crucified Every Candidate, who are we gonna support? Take a step back and think about it for a moment: Romney? No, for reasons stated on this site and encoded on our DNA. Paul? No, unless you're an isolationist. Perry? Apparently not, since my fellow FReepers appear ready to kill each other at the thought of a Perry nomination. Santorum or Huntsman? No, because they apparently aren't pure enough either. Cain? Maybe, but many consider 999 to be 666. Newt? After last night's debate, FR will lynch the man and serve him on their tables tomorrow...so, no. That...
