Hey, thanks for the link - good stuff. Unfortunately, I feel ignorant because I really didn’t know Obama and Clinton (well maybe Clinton) were that bad. I’m not real fond of McCain either, and over the past few years I honestly feel the electorate, in general, is caught up in a downward spiral, and is dropping so fast, I’m not sure we have time to put on the brakes before we crash. I’m not a war monger, but I DO believe we should be in Iraq (and a few other places as well), and that our soldiers should be given everything they need to win, and I mean win BIG. We already had a black candidate that would have been perfect wartime president (IMHO), but as far as females - is there any possible way Margaret Thatcher can be re-constituted?

Glad to hear you were joking. The stack blows the minute I hear things like “more prisons, that’s the answer”-type stuff. Honestly, I feel we are so far past living in a police state, I don’t know if we can ever make it back.
Anyway, coco...I worked in program mgmt for the Dept. of Defense (software acquisition for the Navy, etc.).
Oblomov - I do have a great deal of equity in the house as well, and do you feel foreclosure is a better option versus bankruptcy. And I’m not acting stupid - I really don’t know. I understand that the bankruptcy laws have changed somewhat here in Louisiana, but I still know people that are claiming bankruptcy and buying new cars, getting credit card offers, etc. within a few months of filing.

"We might as well start calling him President Obama right now."

It would seem that way, but I honestly don't feel in any way that this guy has any sort of chance - no matter what the pundits and pollsters say. Believe me I am no fan of McCain. IMHO McCain is as shifty, and liken to, a slightly less liberal Kerry. I don't want to sound harsh, but I don't think the people in this country are ready for either a female nor black president. And that is something that secretly crosses all party lines.

Unfortunately, this sounds exactly like what Christians (and every other religion on this planet for that matter) has done on more than one occasion throughout history.

Please tell me you’re joking - debtor’s prison? I truly feel we live in a police state as it is. We definitely don’t need more prisons - how about better laws. As far as bankruptcy in general goes, and I may be the only one here that feels this way, but I’d love to see it go mainstream. I pay my bills, and always have. I’ve been out of work for long periods of time as well, and not once did I apply for welfare, food stamps, etc. Not that I couldn’t use it, I just have a little more pride than that, and I absolutely don’t feel it’s the government’s job to take care of my ass. But I will say this, I’ve lived in the New Orleans area all my life, and have been struggling harder than ever since Katrina. The work I’ve done since college has dried up, and I now work two jobs and take home two-thirds less pay. I am now seriously considering bankruptcy myself. I lost everything I owned and had 5 feet of water in my home. I’ve had nothing but trouble with Standard Mortgage since the storm. I was originally told not to worry, missed payments and lost time will just be added on to the end of my mortgage - no problems. As soon as they were able to work with me (a year and a half after the storm) I was told that I had to pay everthing that was past due back within the next year, or my house was going to auction, and they put me into foreclosure. A week before the auction they really worked out a deal for me. Now my montly payment has tripled, and I can’t afford it. All this for a house with no kitchen, no A/C, nothing is finished, etc. Yeah, sounds like a high crime...can’t believe they haven’t locked my ass up yet.

I tend to agree with this way of thinking. I can only see abortion as an option in very specific, extremely limited situations, but it is still a moral issue to me - not a political one. Honestly, I could care less where a “to-be” Supreme Court Justice stands with regard to Roe v. Wade when many of our rights, like freedom of speech and a citizens right to firearms, are under attack on a constant basis.

Just voted myself, and I'm glad to see that common sense and morality is winning by nearly 60%. But, honestly, what bothers me the most is that 42% of the people are against it. I normally don't have any faith in polls, but I am sure there are a large percentage of people who want to allow homosexual union. And how many of these are people that have re-structured their thought processes because words like "traditional" and "morality" have been deemed dirty words as set forth by popular media?

Thanks, I did not know this. We could, however, probably debate all night on the accuracy and honesty of his reasons for "changing sides" - if 9/11 is the reason he is giving.

"Dennis Miller is one of the few real brave MEN in HollyWeird that hasn't morphed into a liberal pu$$y or gone queer."

That's because, and please correct me if anyone feels I'm wrong about this, he already morphed from a liberal pu$$y into a ?conservative?. Back when he was at his peak (probably the late 80's to mid 90's when he was just a stand-up comedian doing HBO specials) he was pretty damn liberal. And I mean, a pretty nasty liberal. I remember catching him a few years later, after he had seemed to disappear from earth, he was making a comeback, and was more conservative than ever. Hey, I like to see Hollywood try to speak with some logic and thought, but he's just another plastic poser.

Since this jerk is so worried about a job, I'm sure he can get one loading-up and packing all of Baldwin's stuff - it sure is taking Mr. Baldwin a long time to set up residence in France. That is where he was planning to move after Bush won the election...isn't it?
