For a year and a half, protesters on both the left and the right have targeted public officials at their homes in Los Angeles, demonstrating at all hours to express their grievances over mask mandates, rent forgiveness and other issues. Now, the City Council is seeking to tighten the rules around such protests. The council, on a 13-1 vote, ordered city attorneys on Tuesday to draft a law that would bar protesters from coming within 300 feet of a target’s home.

The French president Emmanuel Macron has announced a curfew during which everyone must be at home between 9pm and 6am for the Paris region, as well as the cities of Rouen, Lille, St Etienne, Lyon, Grenoble, Montpellier, Marseille and Toulouse. The curfew will begin on Saturday and will last for four weeks, he said.

Jerome Kersey, a 17-year NBA veteran who played in two NBA Finals with the Portland Trail Blazers, died Wednesday, two people close to him told CBSSports.com. He was 52. Kersey played 11 seasons for the Trail Blazers before spending time with the Warriors, Lakers, SuperSonics, Spurs and Bucks. He was a member of San Antonio's 1999 NBA championship team.

SALEM, Ore. -- Secretary of State Kate Brown has left a conference in Washington, D.C., and is making an unscheduled return to Oregon. Brown's abrupt return Wednesday comes as Gov. John Kitzhaber faces calls for his resignation. Brown would become governor if Kitzhaber leaves office before the end of his term.
