I’m with you. Besides we need good governors to get grass roots changes working. Desantis should start getting other republican governors doing what he’s doing in fixing Florida. They can develop a template of successful government and deploy it whereever the Reps have the governership and legislatures. That would do more to fix the country than Desantis’ running for Pres in 2024.

“It’s time to carve the place up, give it back to the surrounding states, leave the Capitol, White House and Supreme Court as the runt District and let Bowser and her buddies go back to being ignominious denizens of Maryland and Virginia. Agencies can be broken up and parcelled out to all the States so that direct federal contact can be made when necessary.”

I once thought Putin was logical in the sense that he was also rational. I no longer believe that. He threatened the use of nuclear weapons over what is effectively a border war.

What is the dispute between the ROC and the Greek Orthodox regarding the Ukraine? Admittedly I don’t very much at all about them, just what I read in the papers.

One thing I detest about the Republican party is their neo-con heresy of US triumphalism as manifest in the Bush doctrine of American globalism. This war-hawk nonsense has to end. Russia is not a threat to the US.
Besides, Russia has more to fear from Germany and France then the other way around. Leading to my belief that the only utility that Nato still has is to keep the peace in Europe.
And why shouldn’t Russia be in Nato (as read in another post Putin approached Clinton on that question)? That would mean a non-aggression pact and peace all the way around.
Just imagine, a US aircraft carrier sailing with a Russian escort.
There are just too many holdovers from the Cold War still in power. They can’t think outside the box.
No way, btw, should we endorse nukes in Ukraine. That’s a bizarre notion. IMHO, FWIW.

I think the 17th amendment was a mistake. If state legislators appointed Senators they’d have to be more loyal to their states. As of now, they’re more loyal to their parties and big money interests.
