I didn’t give to the CCHD 25 years ago when I was a Leftist knowing that the money was going to pet as a conservative now for two decades, I am not going to support these moral seditionists and two-for-a-penny social justice (sic) types. Christ calls upon us to give as directly as we can and not to a bunch of pharisees who cream off the money before it ever reaches the poor and frail. The Chuirch needs to fold both the CCHD and the USCCB. Let their staff find honest work.

There are lots of good folks in Illinois along with some moral politicians. But the Soviet Democratic People's Republics of Chicago, Evanston, and Oak Park, etc., have undermined the morality of this state till it looks like a Liberal Canadian outpost.

Senator Durbin would like to be a Catholic like Osama ben Laden wants to be an American citizen living on Long island and keeping Vietnamese Pot Bellied Pigs as pets.

We have many Democrats in Illinois who have the idea that an informed vote is similar to blowing one's nose--you just do it and always vote Democratic. These folks inhabit the trendy areas like Hyde Park, the North Side, Evanston and Oak Park as well as being corralled and manipulated within the inner city by Democratic Party minority operatives.

So we get Democratic clowns like Durbin and Schakowsky as well as RINOs like Judy Baar Topinka.

Normally, a state would be embarrassed by a Durbin. But this is Illinois...mother lode of corruption, chicanery, and gutless wonders.

Considering that Senator Obama (I always have to do a double-take on that name), is matched with Illinois' utterly imbecilic and totally obnoxious Senator Dick "the Flop" Durbin, I am not surprised that he is well received. Now if he was fat, white, had bad skin, and spoke with a stutter, but was equally intelligent and charming, would he be the poster boy for the "moderate" left? This is an age of images not substance as the late Neil Postman pointed out. When William Howard Taft could not be elected because of his portly demeanor.

It's an age where television news anchors are cloned in the labs of some secret New York genetic firm so that they all come out looking and speaking like Barbie/Ken variations. Where our actors and actresses have the faces and characters worthy of toothpaste commercials. In other words, an age of utter mediocrity--and Senator Obama rises to the top of the mediocre milk shake.

Many years ago, when I first started reading columns by Molly Ivins, she portrayed herself as a "Good ole Texas populist" a kind of homey, honest, female Will Rogers in liberal garb. As time went by, she increasingly exposed herself as a bitterly deceitful, third-rate hack...the kind found so often in the pages of the "Nation" where lies form a kind of badge of honor. Much as they did for their communist allies. The Left concocts so many stories and engages in such massive deceit that they drip lies like a man stepping out of a pool drips water. One of the central problems facing the left is in creating its own hysteria through its habitual manipulation and distortion of facts. It both inflates an issue that it defines as a dire problem and then inflates its own sense of importance in rectifying the alleged problem. Like its elder brother, communism, it deals largely in fictions.

That there are tens of millions of concerned conservative voters in the United States is a fact. That these people (and I include myself among them) are creating some form of "theocracy" is a delusion. There are substantial issues of agreement among us, but also some areas of strong disagreement especially related to our various religious interpretations. The underlying feature is that we are all orthodox--in one form or another--Judeo-Christians. Given the strong and growing support of orthodox Jews, I include them in our reputed nascent theocracy. As such, we hold strong moral values in common and oppose a mindless, relativistic interpretation of man and our relationship to the Lord.

The left, on the other hand, has a cheap version of a tried and failed socialist doctrine that where applied leads actually to its opposite--repression and death. It can garner no strong support from people with religious values, because it lacks both positive values and religion.
Though I suppose that repressive government control and tepid adherence to scripture could be loosely called values.

The open society of the left leads ultimately into the old Kremlin. The conservative, free society leads to personal responsibility, stronger families, and voluntary associations of people for the common good. If the latter is theocracy, then I'm all for it.
