I started doing IP in 72. There was no completed protocol at that time. It was a work in progress. Ethernet didn’t exist. We made it all work on bar napkins and felt tipped pens.
I don’t think the current generation could make that all happen now.
No young person that I know with an it degree has a clue about how networks work.
They know apps and that’s about it.
I’ve seen people plastered to the roof of the cabin several times.

I was on a 747 that dropped about 10000 feet over the pacific

Used to live in Asmara. Motorcycled through Tigray a lot. Very poor area. Axium was very interesting. Great historical stuff. Province is best known for dust and camel crap. Large motorcycle obstacles.
Like you, I grew up in the country. Baled hay, raised cattle, raised hell. Got kicked out of college. enlisted, spent over 3 yes doing encryption in the Asa. I feel sorry for kids now, they’ll never have the chance to grow up with the same opportunity that I had. Lot of kids these days could use the experience.
AWS is a big deal. Amazon makes more money off of cloud services than they do from any other enterprise. Last numbers I saw were that Amazon’s profit form AWS is over 50% of their profit.
