Among the top 10 cable networks in terms of prime-time viewers, only Fox News Channel, HGTV and Discovery Channel are on track to finish 2015 on an upswing. Among the top channels taking big hits this year are TNT, off 16% in viewers, and History, which is experiencing a decline of 20%. Even AMC, home of "The Walking Dead" and the last season of "Mad Men," is down 2%. Not every news channel got a boost from politics. Al Jazeera America finished 99th in prime-time rankings with an average of just 28,000 viewers.

You have to wonder what the suits at CNN and MSNBC say at their morning meetings when they put up these kind of numbers, Foxnews with 10x the numbers of Campbell Brown at 8:00p.m., with the usual 4-5x the audience the rest of the night (Charts)

This is how the television audience reacted to MSNBC and CNN cutting away from Scott Brown's victory speech Tuesday night, I've been clipping these ratings for a year and there's never been this big of a thrashing from Foxnews...Here are the numbers..

FNC Crushing all others still! Beck beats Hannity in the Demo!

Another big night for FOX. Its entire Primetime lineup averaged over 2.3 million viewers. FOX beat CNN 3:1 in Prime Time and the Prime Time 25-54 demo. CNN was flat. Even Larry King didn’t do better than Nancy Grace and Grace was just doing average for her. MSNBC had a better than usual night thanks to The Situation doing over 250,000. HLN beat CNN in the Primetime Demo. Another big month for FOX News Channel. For the 43rd consecutive month FOX came in first place. On The Record with Greta Van Susteren was the big ratings winner in July, with a viewership increase of 58% to 2,158,000 viewers. This was the second month in a row she came in second behind The O’Reilly Factor. FOX widened the gap between itself and CNN, an increase of 85% in Prime Time viewership since Jan 2005 and an increase of 46% in Total Day since Jan. 2005. FOX’s total advantage over CNN is 168% in Primetime and 127% in Total Day....

Despite fielding a prime time lineup made up almost entirely of sub hosts (except Alan Colmes who apparently drew the short straw and had to work), FOX still dominated the evening nearly 3:1 over CNN. Fox News says CNN is in a "ratings freefall" under Jon Klein, or as some Fox staffers know him, Jon De-Cline. Quoting the press release: "CNN again suffered double-digit losses under the leadership of Jon Klein with the debut of Your World Today, averaging just 276,000 viewers, down 43% vs. the same time period in '04. Other June losers under Klein's direction included: NewsNight with Aaron Brown with 623,000 viewers (down 21%); Lou Dobbs Tonight with 458,000 viewers (down 15%); and Paula Zahn Now with 562,000 viewers (down 3%) vs. 2004. The NBC Nightly News was #1 in total viewers last week, while ABC's World News Tonight was #1 in the 25-54 demographic. "Despite 91% coverage on Tuesday and Thursday, World News Tonight still outperformed Nightly News by 190,000 Adults 25-54 (2.0 vs. 1.9)," an ABC press release says. This is the sixth consecutive week ABC has beat NBC in the demo. It's going to be a long day of ratings. Quoting Fox's press release: "FOX News Channel continued its cable news dominance for the 14th consecutive quarter and achieved its highest rated month in 2005, according to Nielsen Media Research." When FOX overtook CNN in the ratings early in this decade, CNN continued to put forth the notion that they were still the network to go to when news really mattered. In the run up to the Iraq war CNN was angling to own the coverage as they had during the first Gulf War, only it turned out that FOX showed that it could indeed mount a credible overseas operation for an extended period.
