**SNIP** Since then, a number of California Democrats have backed Schaaf, while House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., slammed the raid as "unjust and cruel." The Department of Justice is reviewing Schaaf’s actions. As for those who have lost children due to the actions of illegal immigrants -- so-called Angel Families -- they say it’s vital that the administration do something. Don Rosenberg, an "Angel Dad" whose 25-year-old son, Drew, was killed in San Francisco in 2010 when an illegal-immigrant driver from Honduras hit his motorbike, says that Sessions’ DOJ needs to have Schaaf prosecuted.

A whistleblower in the southern California construction industry says illegal alien workers have “taken over every trade” in the business while driving down wages by an estimated 40 percent. ... Blaine Taylor, the whistleblower, said the construction industry in California once offered a starting wage of about $45 an hour in the late 1980s. Fast-forward to 2018 — nearly two decades into when illegal aliens began flooding the industry — he now says that wages have fallen by more than half, standing at just $11 an hour.

For the first time in California's history, the state has appointed an undocumented resident to a statewide post, announcing the decision just a day after President Donald Trump attacked its immigration approach during a visit to San Diego. The decision made by the Senate Rules Committee on Wednesday saw Lizbeth Mateo, a 33-year-old attorney and immigrant rights activist, appointed to serve on a committee that helps increase college access for students from low-income or underserved communities. In announcing the decision, Senate President pro tempore Kevin de León appeared to recognize the move as an act of defiance in the face...

CA Election Changes for 2018 (SB 450) Get ready for a new era of voting in California: Senate Bill 450, which passed in 2016, does away with neighborhood polling places and replaces them with elections conducted primarily by mail. In 2018, some counties in California will close many neighborhood polling locations in favor of consolidated vote centers. It represents another effort to boost sagging voter participation. Under the system, which Sacramento is among the first counties to adopt, every registered voter will receive a mail ballot. Drop-off locations will be available up to four weeks before election day, and temporary...

The White House said Wednesday that President Trump opposes cutting a deal with Congress to protect young illegal immigrants from deportation for three years in exchange for three years of funding for a border wall. Mr. Trump does want to see funding for his border wall included, but doesn’t think it should be tied to legal status for “Dreamers,” spokesman Raj Shah said. ...He was shooting down a Washington Post report that the White House had signaled it was open to a “three-for-three” deal, which would have allocated ...

When a Muslim enters prison, what is done to turn him away from jihad? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. On the contrary, Muslims are given the opportunity to study the Quran and pray with other inmates. And so things like this are going to happen. There needs to be a thoroughgoing overhaul of how Islam is treated in our prison system. But that is not on the horizon. “Man serving 25 years in terrorism case pleads guilty to attempted murder of Victorville prison warden,” by Brittny Mejia, Los Angeles Times, March 13, 2018 (thanks to RN): The prisoner had been serving a...

Having just attended the Ann Coulter event in Mountain View, California, I thought I would share some highlights (and lowlights) of the experience. My wife and I traveled from out of state to visit my parents and attend the event. They belong to the hosting organization, The Liberty Forum of Silicon Valley, and we were able to attend as their guests. We arrived pretty early, as the security was understandably very stringent. The MVPD had a street blocked off and only allowed ticketed attendees access to the venue. They also had a strong presence in the parking lot. The MVPD...

FBI officials have recommended that the former number two at the FBI Andrew McCabe be fired, CBS News' Paula Reid reports. Attorney General Jeff Sessions is reviewing the recommendation. It's likely he'll take the recommendation because it would be difficult for Sessions, who has promised to go after leakers, to be perceived as looking the other way on leaks. Another factor -- it would likely upset the president if it appears that Sessions is going too easy on McCabe over his handling of the Hillary Clinton email probe. The bureau, asked for a response, said that it had no personnel...

Q: On recent trips to Las Vegas traveling on Interstate 15, Riverside resident Janet Field said she noticed that the rest stops along the interstate were closed in both directions. She wondered why the rest stops are not being used, and said they appear to be in good condition. A: Water and electrical problems are to blame for the closures of rest stops on 1-15 between Riverside and Las Vegas, said Caltrans spokeswoman Terri Kasinga. The rest stops outside of Barstow and Baker are just old and need major repairs or rehabilitation work, which is why they are closed. Kasinga...

“Microaggression” list scorns would-be bigots An official University of California list of racist “microaggressions” asserts that saying “I’m not racist” is racist. The university guide defines microaggressions as, “everyday verbal, nonverbal, and environmental slights, snubs, or insults, whether intentional or unintentional, that communicate hostile, derogatory, or negative messages to target persons based solely upon their marginalized group membership.” Examples listed on the university’s official website include telling someone, “you speak English very well,” telling an Asian person that they are good at math and insisting that “America is a melting pot”. Using the phrase, “I’m not racist, I have several...

I was born and raised in Southern Nevada. I remember it to be a free place, but the area is "Sin City." Since moving from there, I've become a Christ follower. But now I'm in the Godless, anti-gun, anti-Liberty, illegal-alien-loving slave state of California. I've been hatching a plot to escape: Wifey, son and I move to Southern Nevada and get our main place. (Wifey doesn't want the cold or super rural-ness of the north east.) Then we buy a mountain cabin in Northern Nevada where my son and I can travel to often to live as free men to...

"Visiting California, Trump says Gov. Jerry Brown is doing a ‘terrible job’" Trump has repeatedly bashed the state, dismissing California as "out of control" during a 2017 interview, a comment he repeated Tuesday. I can’t speak to those allegations first hand but I can pass along this #OpenWhineWednesday anecdote via my neighbor. He had been on a business trip in California last week. When I ran into him yesterday he had just received a citation in the mail for unlawfully using the HOV (high occupancy vehicle) lane while he was there. Oddly enough the citation was not because he...

Gun industry groups insist the legal requirement for semi-auto handguns to mark cartridges with a microscopic array of characters, that identify the make, model and a serial number of the pistol upon firing is “impossible to accomplish” in actual field conditions. (Photo: UCDavis)California’s high court is set to hear arguments in a long running case brought by firearms industry groups who say the state’s microstamping requirement is unattainable. The case, challenging the state’s 2007 unsafe handgun modification requirements, is set for arguments in a Los Angeles court on April 4. Plaintiffs, the National Shooting Sports Foundation and the Sporting Arms...
