OK...calling all FReeper legal and constitutional experts.In theory, could the Departments of Justice and Labor, in conjunction with the Department of Education, could file an injunction based on the fact that schools, being recipients of some federal funds through transfer payments to the states, fall under federal protection, including labor agreements? This, IMHO, would be blatantly unconstitutional, but it would tie the states up in at least three levels of federal courts before it hit the Supreme Court. We're talking years of litigation.

The talks lasted about 3 1/2 hours with the league making a one-hour presentation on its counter-proposal, which included a salary cap, prompting the NHL Players' Association to convene for a 2 1/2 hour meeting.
