  • Good guys with guns saving lives

Stephen Willeford’s heroic actions last Sunday saved many lives at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas. The killer, Devin Kelley, was shooting the wounded when Willeford showed up with a rifle. Willeford’s quick actions forced Kelley to stop his attack, presumably saving the lives of the twenty wounded and possibly many more. The press derided President Trump for saying that Willeford saved many lives with his gun, and that stricter gun control regulations would have only made things worse.

The chances of finding yourself in a mass shooting are minuscule. But that doesn't mean you don't have an inherent right to self defense. A few hours after Sunday’s horrifying mass shooting in a Sutherland Springs Baptist church, a Fox News host asked the attorney general of Texas, Ken Paxton, “As a country, what do we do? How can we get our arms around this and stop this insanity?” “The only thing I know, because you can’t necessarily keep guns out of the hands of people who are going to violate the law … in Texas at least we have...

With Islamic State-inspired animals bringing their holy war to our cities – ramming trucks into pedestrians and bicyclists and slaughtering dozens in a nightclub and elsewhere – we are reminded of how important it is to protect our right to bear arms, which is enshrined in the Second Amendment. If it weren’t for the hero cop who happened to be at the horrific scene and shot the Islamic extremist killer inflicting mayhem on New York’s West Side Highway – just blocks away from a high school – more innocents could have been harmed, including children. We know that law enforcement...
  • Concealed Carry in Churches

According to concealedcarry.com, concealed carry is banned in only two states, Nebraska and Louisiana. It requires permission from a church leader in seven states, Arkansas, Georgia, Michigan, Missouri, North Dakota, Ohio, and South Carolina. In the other 41 states, you have the right to conceal carry in church just as you do in other private property. The church may ban the practice, just as you may in your own home. But there is no law to prevent you from exercising the Second Amendment in church. Dean Weingarten Gun Watch
  • NRA Being Investigated By New York Regulators

The National Rifle Association is reportedly being investigated by New York regulators. No, it’s not that the state has finally figured out a way to undermine the organization’s strong Second Amendment stance or its effectiveness throughout the nation in blocking infringements on our right to keep and bear arms. No, it’s something far more insidious. They’re concerned the NRA is selling their Carry Guard insurance without a license. New York regulators launched an investigation into the National Rifle Association’s role in the self-defense insurance program that bears its name. The probe by the state’s Department of Financial Services will focus...

In the wake of the Vegas shooting, Hollywood actors are urging people to “call Congress” and ask them to oppose any gun measures backed by the National Rifle Association. In a video for Everytown for Gun Safety, Emma Stone, Bill Hader, Melissa McCarthy, and others voice support for gun control legislation and ask viewers to text Everytown for Gun Safety so that they can be connected with their congressmen. “The mass shooting in Las Vegas has all of us grieving, scared, and angry,” Stone begins in the video. “Knowing what to do about it can be confusing,” Bill Hader continues....

Much of the ground for advocating Second Amendment freedoms has been covered in the media, but at times like this, when a major tragedy places the second amendment under intense scrutiny, the basic point bears repeating. The Second Amendment to the Constitution is not about granting rights to citizens to carry guns; it is about denying to government the exclusive monopoly on the use of force and ensuring the preservation of our freedom. Though much-debated, the Constitutional text is simple. "A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and...

Detroit, Michigan, October 10, 2017: An attempted robbery in Detroit didn’t turn out the way the criminal hoped it would. Kris Brown jumped in with, “We shouldn’t live in a country where people can’t go to concerts or church or baseball fields, or elementary schools without the fear of being shot.” Where does this woman live? Sounds like she's describing Chicago, which has the highest number of gun deaths, even though the city has the strictest gun control laws in the nation. Funny, none of these three lefties brought up Chicago. “So, our main problem here is Republicans getting money from the NRA. They care more about money than human lives. That’s what it is.” How ironic coming from a...

I don’t expect the people at Salon to understand much about guns. Most of them wouldn’t know the difference between fully-auto or semi-auto if it jumped up on their face and wiggled. Yet, as a large-ish news outlet, I do expect them to try and figure out just what is going on before they write something and not just pay lip service to things.

Well, if peddling North Korean propaganda wasn’t bad enough, The New York Times’ Nicholas Kristof had a laundry list of things he thinks could stop another mass shooting in America. He admits that there is no magic wand that can be waved to solve this supposed problem. He’s right. Yet, he lists things that would not have prevented 64-year-old Stephen Paddock from killing 58 people and wounding nearly 500 more in Las Vegas. Yet, Kristof, like other liberals, places emphasis on the cumulative effect these (ineffectual) policy suggestions would have in the long term. Government already screws up royally on...

Critics of this column will quickly point out the sheer amount of destruction caused by Stephen Paddock would not have been possible had Paddock not had access to the cadre of high-powered, fast-shooting weaponry he did. They are undeniably correct. Some terrorism is beyond the scope of individual defense. But is this a reason to trash the Second Amendment? Of course not. Progressives have never, ever answered one simple question when it comes to the notion of gun control or gun bans, to wit: How do you keep firearms out of the hands of criminals and madmen? Whatever sick motivation...

The public is aware of two things: No law could have avoided the Las Vegas tragedy, and those calling for “gun control” are really calling for “citizen control.” These are usually liberal Democrats doing the shooting – and demonstrating, protesting and calling for laws. Liberal laws never free you but always restrict you. It is usually the liberals who are against the police and who support criminals. Already the conspiracy theorists are trying to find a way to blame police, government agencies and other nations. The attacker purchased multiple guns, brought them into the Mandalay Bay Casino and took days...

When House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) was asked on Tuesday about the status of the “suppressor” legislation (Sportsmen’s Heritage and Recreational Enhancement Act), which had passed a House committee last month and was headed for a vote on the floor, Ryan was disingenuous: “That bill is not scheduled now. I don’t know when it’s going to be scheduled.” Ryan's response was disingenuous because, as speaker of the house, he is the one responsible for scheduling such votes. RINO Representative Chris Collins (a Republican from New York with a Freedom Index rating of just 53 out of 100), agreed: “I think...
  • DC stands down on strict gun law, easing path to get concealed-carry permits in capital

    Fox News ^ | October 5, 2017
District of Columbia officials announced Thursday they will not appeal a federal court ruling that struck down parts of the city’s restrictive gun laws, a move that paves the way for more gun owners to obtain concealed carry permits. In June, a federal appeals court ruled against a D.C. law that requires people to have a “good reason to fear injury” in order to carry a handgun, saying it infringes on residents' Second Amendment rights. Because of the stringent requirement, only about 120 people currently have a permit to carry a concealed handgun in the city.

Clinton tweeted: The crowd fled at the sound of gunshots. Imagine the deaths if the shooter had a silencer, which the NRA wants to make easier to get. Clinton's two-sentence remark backfired big time, though. The largest critique of them all came from a surprising place — PolitiFact. On Wednesday, PolitiFact dissected Clinton's claim. First, the publication said: Our research shows that a suppressor would not have made a difference in the Las Vegas case, because of the positioning of the weapons and because of the distance of the shooter from the crowd. Clinton's staff provided no evidence to suggest...

As seen in at least ten separate NewsBusters posts in the past two days, the left has wasted no time politicizing the mass murder at the at Route 91 country music festival in Las Vegas to push hard for "gun control" — which ultimately, as anyone who has noticed what governors in Connecticut and New York have done in the past several years knows, involves total gun confiscation. Thus, it is quite noteworthy that the Washington Post, of all places, published a Tuesday afternoon column by Leah Libresco, who asserts, based on months of time she and others spent researching...

Anti-gun leftists have screamed and moaned about the idea of law-abiding concealed carry license holders being able to take their lawfully owned firearms onto college campuses. They routinely act like anyone with a gun is going to snap at any moment. Of course, this isn’t new. After every new repeal of some anti-gun regulation, we hear the old “the streets will run red with blood” arguments, and yet they never seem to pan out that way, do they? But campus carry is different, they say. These are kids, so there are all kinds of new problems that will make the...
