Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said in mid-July that some Muslims’ opposition to LGBTQ curriculum in K-12 education is being fueled by American right-wingers, video shows. Just when you thought Trudeau couldn’t offend any more people, or do something even stupider than that haircut he got in 2022, he outdid his own stupidity in spectacular fashion. While speaking with Muslim Canadians at a mosque in Calgary in mid-July, he seemingly lectured his constituents on why they feel the way they do about Pride events in the education system, according to a video shared on social media. “People on social media,...

On his Wednesday night show, MSNBC host Chris Hayes and his liberal guest trashed the backlash to children attending drag shows as "scary," "bizarre," "disgusting" and "violent." Journalist Parker Molloy told Hayes that conservatives and Republican politicians who oppose children at drag events view LGBTQ people "as a threat to be around children." On screen it read, "The far right threat: Right wing extremists ramp up LGBTQ hate." The pair complained about Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signaling he would be open to signing a bill that would punish parents who took their children to drag shows. "You have multiple lawmakers...

Murray, a former Democratic state legislator elected mayor in 2013, said in a statement he is resigning effective 5 p.m. Wednesday. “While the allegations against me are not true, it is important that my personal issues do not affect the ability of our City government to conduct the public’s business,” Murray said in a statement, adding he was proud of his accomplishments while in office. BANGOR, Maine — A former sheriff said he had concerns years ago about the Rev. Former Penobscot County Sheriff Timothy Richardson, who was hired as a deputy in the early 1970s and was sheriff between 1980 and 1984, said he questioned actions by Carlson in the 1970s. The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), whose officials in the past have been convicted for being associated with Muslim terrorist groups, said it will announce at a news conference Tuesday that it is launching an “education campaign” and will distribute 100,000 copies of the Koran to local, state and national leaders. The books will provide an English translation and commentary. CAIR said the distribution is prompted by U.S. President Barack Obama’s recent speech in Cairo, in which he said he wants to reach out to Muslims throughout the world. He praised the Muslim community in the U.S, whose values he...

A Contra Costa Superior Court judge on Friday sentenced a former Richmond man to death for raping and murdering an 8-year-old girl three decades ago. Joseph Cordova, 63, leaned on his elbows in a Martinez courtroom and showed no emotion as the judge condemned him to die for the 1979 killing of Cannie "Candy" Bullock. "At no point has Mr. Cordova evinced any remorse for the crime, not only denying that he perpetrated it in the face of all-but-conclusive DNA evidence to the contrary, but not even showing any sympathy for what happened to the child," Judge Peter Spinetta said...

Sentencing Postponed For South S.F. Child Molester Family members of a 42-year-old computer technician who pleaded no contest to molesting his niece asked for leniency from a San Mateo County Superior Court judge Monday morning, saying his behavior had been very "out of character." The sentencing of John Olp, a computer administrator at a South San Francisco business, was rescheduled this morning, until next week, in order to allow defense attorney John Runfola time to review a probation report. According to prosecutors, Olp molested his sister's daughter over a five-year-period, beginning when the girl was 9 years old. Olp was...

Daniel Ortega, the former leader of the Left-wing Sandinistas in Nicaragua and one of the United States' most reviled Cold War enemies, appears to be on the brink of making a spectacular comeback.Twenty years after his Sandinista government fought a bitter civil war against American-funded ''Contra" rebels, he is leading in the polls for the presidential elections on Sunday. But now he has ''found God" and talks of ''peace and love" not Marxist-Leninist ideals. In a final frenzy of campaigning, the podgy, balding 60-year-old, is spreading what he calls a "spiritual revolution", "full of love and hope" around this country,...

October 17, 2006 -- THE death over the weekend of former Rep. Gerry Studds, the first openly gay member of Congress, is a stark reminder of how much all those howls of Democratic outrage over the Mark Foley scandal ring so hollow. The Massachusetts Democrat is being hailed by national political leaders, including Ted Kennedy and John Kerry, as a "role model" who "gave a lot of people courage" by coming out of the closet. Yet Studds openly declared his homosexuality only after an investigation revealed he'd had a sexual relationship with a male teenage congressional page and propositioned two...
