  • Christie's Social Security Reform Hurts America, Particularly Minorities

Some are touting New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's proposal to take an ax to Social Security as an act of bold political leadership. Sorry, I see the opposite. America needs leadership to replace old dysfunctional baggage with new programs and ideas fitting for a free 21st-century country. We don't need those who think leadership is retrofitting the country into our old baggage. It's the latter that Christie proposes. His "solution" to the impending bankruptcy of Social Security is to phase out benefits for retirees earning $80,000 to $200,000 and above and increase the retirement age from 67 to 69, and...

The Brayton Point Power Station, the largest coal-fired power plant in New England, is shutting down amid a prolonged slump in energy prices that is forcing power operators nationally to rejigger their budgets and seek out more affordable production strategies. The closure will result in 240 job losses at the Somerset, Mass.-based facility. Its owner, an affiliate of New Jersey-based private equity firm Energy Capital Partners, said in a statement that steps would be taken to mitigate the effects of the job cuts for Brayton Point’s former workers....
  • Hillary Clinton Leads Democratic pack for 2016, Would Beat Chris Christie Head-to-Head (47-41%)

The next presidential election is more than three years away, but early polling shows Hillary Rodham Clinton leading the Democratic pack by a landslide margin, with a whopping 63 per cent of Democrats telling pollsters that they would vote for the former first lady and Secretary of State. Vice President Joe Biden came in second with 13 per cent support - barely one-fifth of Clinton's showing. The GOP field is anyone's game, however, with New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie only garnering 15 per cent support among Republicans to narrowly lead the pack. He's followed by Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan, Florida...
  • Former U.S. Ambassador John Bolton a Sleeper Candidate for President?

What began as a whisper campaign months ago is now being openly discussed among conservatives, and that is the possibility that former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. John Bolton could potentially become 'a sleeper candidate' for President in 2012 on the Republican ticket. Bolton's credentials are stellar. While serving at the U.N. he was a fearless and sometimes controversial crusader for American interests at an institution that has major credibility problems with its overt promotion of extremist Islamic groups and nations. As a stalwart proponent of liberty, Bolton made it clear that it is not in U.S. interests to support...
  • Nov. 3 is after October, isn't it?

As the polls in the N.J. governors race go up and down, the race appears to be inside 5 points either way depending on who you listen to. The incumbent gov, Jon Corzine, is not very popular due to his tax and spend policies, as well as his partys' affiliation with pols engaged in massive corruption. His GOP opponent, Chris Christy, doesn't have the same baggage, (except around the waistline), and I have not seen anything that links him to the kind of nefarious doings that the dims are up to. So, everything else being equal, a pretty close race....
