Simba’s happy place is in the car on the way to a campsite. On Good Friday, the goldendoodle and his human parents went to Oak Creek Canyon. Ruth and Wesley Wallace got out of the car to enjoy the view of the vista. Simba was out running with joy. “Simba came from Ruth, full blast right up to me and jumped, and then cleared the rock wall and cleared all the cliff,” the dog’s owner Wesley Wallace said with a chuckle.

Back in the spring, he was accused of deceiving viewers when he claimed, in his Netflix show Our Planet, that walruses were falling off Siberian clifftops as a result of climate change. This was shown to be untrue by Canadian biologist and mammal expert Dr Susan Crockford, who described the abundant scientific literature, dating back many decades, showing that walruses have always taken to the land, and even fallen from clifftops. She also pointed out that the footage Attenborough used to make his case seemed to have come from a well-documented incident when walruses had been driven over cliffs by...

"Grottoes" (grottos?) can be both natural, man-made, or man-modified. Searching for grotto images finds many of these categories. This one struck me as pretty impressive, on the island of Malta. I had to shrink the image a bit; click on it for the full-size image. The second shot is of the notable tourist attraction Blue Grotto of Capri, Italy. There are a lot of pictures on the Web of this place; I couldn't find what I felt was a great one. The glow of the underwater illumination is pretty good; it appears that there is a considerable photographic challenge in...

Ancient graves found on cliffs Archaeologists used ropes to access the cliff-face graves A 1,250-year-old cliff-face cemetery has been found in Pembrokeshire revealing the county's early Christian past. Two skeletons dating from the Dark Ages of around 750AD have been recovered and a stone with a carefully chiselled cross has also been found. Archaeologists had to work using ropes to reach the site at Longoar Bay, near St Ishmaels. The graves were discovered by chance by Steve Brick who works for the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. "The site was impossible for us to reach but from our researches we realised...
