Democratic strategist Donna Brazile said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” that after listening to oral arguments, the Supreme Court was close to “election interference” with their consideration of former President Donald Trump’s immunity claim. Brazile said, “I’ve never been here before, and I never thought in the years, almost 30 years that i worked in presidential politics and campaigns that I would ever have to figure out some talking points when your opponent in the case of Donald Trump is sitting in court all day and not on the campaign trail.”

CNN commentator Adam Kinzinger said Friday on CNN’s “The Lead” that former President Donald Trump and Republicans rhetoric could lead to violence. Anchor Jake Tapper asked, “How concerned are you that if Trump loses again in November, and who knows what’s going to happen, but if he does, how concerned are you that we can see a repeat of January 6?”

In an appalling violation of the code of ethics, US District Judge Reggie Walton went on CNN to speak publicly about pending legal matters. Judge Walton, a Bush appointee, spoke with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins Thursday evening about threats he has received after he called Trump a “charlatan” and rendered excessive punishment to J6 defendants. “I’ve had more threats than what used to be the case,” the judge said referring to a January 6 case he oversaw. Even Kaitlan Collins conceded that it is “rare that we get to hear from a sitting federal judge." “I’m wondering, what made you speak...

CNN — With presidential primaries underway and a 2020 general election rematch seemingly the most likely outcome, a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS shows former President Donald Trump narrowly ahead of President Joe Biden in what’s shaping up to be a close contest nationally. The poll highlights voters’ conflicted feelings about the leading candidates. Broad majorities of Democrats and Republicans say they’d be satisfied if their party’s candidate won such a rematch. Still, a sizable minority of voters express a desire for another option if Biden and Trump are the nominees. Overall, 49% of registered voters say they would...

Former President Donald Trump’s huge win in the Iowa caucuses on Monday enshrines one of the most astonishing comebacks in American political history. Losing one-term presidents almost never mount subsequent successful primary campaigns, much less pull off landslides that demonstrate utter dominance of their party. Trump transformed the GOP in his populist, nationalist, nihilistic image in 2016. By claiming 50% of the vote in the biggest win in caucus history, putting him on course to his third consecutive nomination, he showed that eight years after his outsider presidential victory, the current GOP is entirely his party. “The big night is...

Nikki Haley has trimmed former President Donald Trump’s lead in the Republican primary race in New Hampshire to single digits, according to a new CNN Poll conducted by the University of New Hampshire. Trump still holds a meaningful lead in the poll, with the backing of 39% of likely Republican primary voters in New Hampshire compared to Haley’s 32%. The rest of the field lags far behind in the poll, with former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie at 12%, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy at 8%, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis at 5% and former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson...

CNN anchor Dana Bash said Friday on “Inside Politics” that Attorney General Merrick Garland appointing David Weiss as a special counsel overseeing the investigation into Hunter Biden could keep Republicans investigating the president’s son “at bay.” Partial transcript as follows: PRISCILLA ALVAREZ: But again, this is a White House that is facing increasing pressure when it comes to the president’s son, Hunter Biden. Republicans have slammed the president over all of these legal proceedings and also so much has flirted with a potential impeachment inquiry. A rumored sale of CNN to its onetime CEO could see the network come under foreign influence as one industry insider has warned much of the money could come from the United Arab Emirates. Ivan Schlager of Kirkland & Ellis - an expert on foreign influence regulation - made the assertion on Monday, as the network could face being sold by boss David Zaslav and ousted Jeff Zucker emerging as a frontrunner to snap it up. Just over a year ago, Zucker, who has close business ties Abu Dhabi-based International Media Investments, was forced to resign 15 years into his...

Then-President Donald Trump angrily demanded to go to the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, and berated his protective detail when he didn't get his way, according to two Secret Service sources who say they heard about the incident from multiple agents, including the driver of the presidential SUV where it occurred. The sources tell CNN that stories circulated about the incident -- including details that are similar to how former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson described it to the House select committee investigating January 6 -- in the months immediately afterward the US Capitol attack and before she testified...

A CNN crew member joked to reporter Suzanne Malveaux about Donald Trump’s plane crashing as they waited to go live while the president-elect was set to land in Indianapolis on Thursday. While making final preparations to go on air, an off-camera voice could be heard discussing the estimated arrival time of the Trump plane. The president-elect was traveling to give a speech on the recent decision of Carrier Corp., an air conditioning company, to keep about 1,000 jobs in Indiana that it originally planned to send to Mexico. Carrier made the announcement to keep the jobs in the U.S. after...
