A storm spreading locally heavy rain into the Northeast will meet colder air and allow for a treacherous wintry mix and snow to fall over portions of the region. Most of the accumulating snow will fall overnight into Monday morning. The heaviest snow will thump over a small swathe from the Berkshire Mountains in northwestern Connecticut to southern New Hampshire and southeastern Maine. Democrat Martha Coakley, buoyed by her durable statewide popularity, enjoys a solid, 15-percentage-point lead over Republican rival Scott Brown as the race for US Senate enters the homestretch, according to a new Boston Globe poll of likely voters.
