Io Dodds Tue, November 16, 2021, 11:13 AM·2 min read A Florida woman with Covid-19 whose husband had battled in court to get her treated with ivermectin has died of her illness. Tamara Drock, a 47-year-old teacher from Loxahatchee near Palm Beach, Florida, passed away from Covid complications on Friday after 12 weeks in hospital, according to the Palm Beach Post. Her Husband, Ryan Drock, had sued the hospital last month to force doctors to administer ivermectin, an anti-parasite medication that has become a cause célèbre for Covid sceptics and supporters of Donald Trump despite little evidence of its benefits.

A recent study shows that the COVID-19 hospitalization numbers in the United States might be highly exaggerated—almost half of the hospitalized patients only show “mild” symptoms, which means they might be admitted to the hospital due to reasons that aren’t related to COVID-19.The study (pdf), conducted by Harvard Medical School, Tufts Medical Center, and the Veterans Affairs Healthcare System, is a preprint report that is awaiting peer review.“With widespread vaccination, the current definition of COVID-19 hospitalizations includes progressively more mild or incidental diagnoses, for example, cases identified prior to surgery or prior to discharge, rather than hospitalizations due to severe...
  • Hugs Are Coming Back. Not Everyone Is Thrilled.

SNIP There are reasons so many humans feel comforted by hugging. Like a massage, it “involves stimulation and pressure receptors, and when that happens, the whole nervous system slows down and stress hormone is reduced,” says Tiffany Field, director of the Touch Research Institute at the University of Miami School of Medicine. Still, for some, hugs induce stress more than they relieve it. When Sam Zelinka, a federal-government research scientist based in Madison, Wis., gets a hug from anyone other than his wife or kids, he gets the same feeling as when a stranger stands too close to him. And...
  • Nancy Pelosi Will Not Mandate Lawmakers to Get COVID Vaccines

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced she won’t implement a mandate for lawmakers to get vaccinated during a press conference on Thursday, saying all she can do is “hope that science would guide them to protect themselves.” The California Democrat’s comments come the day after President Joe Biden gave his first joint address to Congress with a significantly reduced crowd, due to social distancing precautions implemented for the event. A number of lawmakers have also voiced they would like to see the House begin to return to pre-pandemic protocol, with shorter vote series and the allowance for members who have been...

Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), not only funded groups that collaborated with the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV), but he approved his subordinates’ attendance at a conference sponsored by China’s Wuhan lab, which is widely believed to be the source of the novel coronavirus known as COVID-19.Although the 2016 Conference on Viral Infection and Immune Response, hosted by the Nature science journal, has been scrubbed from the publication’s website, archived versions of the site show that two researchers from NIAID were in attendance. At the time of the conference, attendee Kanta...
  • COVID-19, Number Blindness, and the Monolithic Legacy Media

The Legacy Media isn't just innumerate, they're number-blind. We've seen a lot of examples this year.Hell, this week. One was the recent debacle of some poor woman who posted that Bloomberg had spent $500 million on ads, and so could have just given the 327 million Americans a million dollars.I don't want to call down more derision on her — she's changed her Twitter profile to "I'm not good at math" and protected her tweets — you all leave her alone — but I am going to call down more derision on Brian Williams and Mara Gay because they...
