LONGUEUIL, Que. — Quebec actor Edgar Fruitier faces two charges of indecent assault against a minor in connection with alleged events dating back to the 1970s. The 88-year-old actor’s arrest was first reported by the Montreal-area newspaper Le Courrier du Sud. Police in Longueuil, on Montreal’s South Shore, confirm they arrested a person matching Fruitier’s age in connection with two counts of indecent assault against a victim who was 15 years old when the alleged assaults began. An arrest warrant issued July 12 says Fruitier was wanted for allegedly committing indecent assault against a male victim between June 1 and...

The U.S. is calling out China and Russia for helping North Korea violate United Nations sanctions as the regime smuggles in more oil than is allowed. The illegal transfers are now disrupting the U.S. talks with North Korea and its push for the regime to completely dismantle its nuclear weapons program, according to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley. Pompeo traveled to New York Friday to join Haley for a meeting with the U.N. Security Council representatives, including Chinese and Russian representatives, for what Haley called "frank talk." "We put pressure today...

When Democratic socialists Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders rallied for a left-wing congressional candidate Friday afternoon in Kansas, they insisted their agenda is "mainstream." Sanders, the Vermont senator and 2016 Democratic presidential candidate who spent the afternoon campaigning in Wichita for Democratic congressional candidate James Thompson, boasted that ideas “once considered to be radical” are now part “of the mainstream conversation.” “With allies like Alexandria and James in the Congress, we are going to pass a Medicare-for-all, single-payer program,” Sanders told the crowd. “And please understand that this idea of Medicare for all – this is not a radical idea.”...

Newly released surveillance video shows how a quick-acting Bountiful pawn shop clerk managed to fatally shoot one of two would-be robbers in a confrontation that lasted only 38 seconds. In the video released Friday by Bountiful police, a man appears in dark clothing at the threshold, pointing a gun at the clerk, who had been wheeling a small bicycle toward the shop door at Bountiful Pawn, 135 S. 500 West, on May 4. The footage shows a second man enter with a black bag and a hammer, walking to another part of the store. As the first man with a...

There’s no question that the story of the Democratic party right now is about the ascending left. There’s a bumper crop of self-consciously progressive candidates running for office this year, while many relatively non-ideological “Establishment Democrats” are embracing policy positions and political messages long associated with party insurgents. The relative strength of various Democratic factions in Congress won’t be possible to reliably measure until after the midterms. But with the 2020 presidential election cycle soon to begin (the first candidate debates will probably be held about this time next year), it’s looking like progressives may have many more viable options...

Three days after the shooting and robbery at a North Lauderdale store, the Broward Sheriff’s Office arrested a 19-year-old man who turned himself in Friday afternoon in the killing of a Parkland parent. BSO detectives and Broward CrimeStoppers received numerous tips since the release of a surveillance video earlier in the day, according to a BSO release. “The homicide detectives’ investigation led them to an associate of [Tyrone] Fields’ who encouraged him to meet with law enforcement,” according to BSO spokeswoman Joy Oglesby. Fields turned himself in at Fort Lauderdale’s police station. The senseless slaying dismayed the community ....

STOCKTON (CBS13)- A civilian superhero of sorts in Stockton is at it again. He calls himself Stockton’s Batman. He’s a father of two and a local business owner. The latest citizen’s arrest was caught on camera. The video shows the vigilante detaining a man he claims is smoking crystal meth, outside a busy 99 Cents Only Store. Stockton’s Batman won’t use his real name or show his face. But told CBS13, that he’s nabbed hundreds of alleged criminals at the same Stockton Shopping Center. “They’re criminals in to which point they’re committing crimes in front of my eyes,” he said....

Police also found antifa-related items during their search, including an antifa jacket and an anti-police manifesto. Authorities reportedly evacuated the surrounding area and called the Sioux Falls Police bomb squad.

My advice to Michael Cohen: DO NOT hire Michael Avenatti as your lawyer. He doesn’t have your best interests at heart. To the contrary, he would use you to advance his own ambitions. That became obvious by Avenatti’s own statement on Joy Reid’s MSNBC today. Asked by Reid whether he’d represent Cohen, Avenatti said: “The only way that I would agree to do that is if I had 100% confidence that Michael Cohen was ready to do the right thing: fully disclose what he knew about the President, and if he sought my assistance in bringing that information to the...

The non-profit Coolidge Reagan Foundation on Thursday filed a Federal Election Complaint against Hillary Clinton’s campaign, the Democratic National Committee, their law firm Perkins Coie, and Christopher Steele, the ex-British spy that authored the “pee dossier,” for violating campaign finance laws. The non-profit charged that those parties hid payments made to and received by Fusion GPS, the firm that hired Steele to produce the dossier, in violation of finance laws. Democrats have accused the Trump administration of colluding with foreigners when in reality it was the Democrats who colluded with foreigners, the non-profit charged. “For over a year, Democratic officials...

The Helsinki summit is over, and the major story – surprise, surprise – is more tiresome drivel about Russian election meddling. The most amazing thing about this narrative is that the who can be talked about endlessly with little to no mention of the what and the how. The what at the center of it all is that the Democratic National Committee, including Hillary Clinton and DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz, rigged their party's primary in favor of Hillary Clinton and against Bernie Sanders. This is not speculation or the result of a political witch hunt – as is true...

The journalistic hounds at CNN have a new target, a politician whose sin is so egregious – so unthinkable – that it can hardly be spoken aloud: the recently elected congressman from Minnesota disagrees with CNN orthodoxy on race. And now, with enthusiasm we have not seen since hordes of reporters descended on Rick Perry's boyhood hunting grounds where they found a 30-year-old racial expletive written under a rock, CNN has set out to punish Congressman Jason Lewis. The sins of the congressman were easy to ferret out. They came during a stint as a talk show host in Minneapolis...

To their credit, the WaPo’s editors begin by admitting that we do, in fact, have a refugee crisis on our hands. They go one step further, admitting that the Obama administration was “flummoxed” by the unending flow of families and unaccompanied children trying to flee Central and South America and enter the United States, particularly in 2014. But they are dismissive of the one solution being put forward by the Trump administration which might actually make a difference. We’ve had a “safe third country” agreement with Canada since 2004. Under that plan, migrants are to apply for asylum in the...
