Conservative Sen. Ted Cruz is endorsing Louisiana Republican congressional candidate Zach Dasher, adding to the candidate's roster of high-wattage support. "Zach Dasher is a conservative with a backbone to stand up to career politicians in both parties, to help lead the fight to repeal Obamacare, to stop amnesty, to defend our conservative values," Cruz, a Texas Republican, says in a video endorsement of Dasher released Wednesday. The Louisiana businessman is among a field of candidates running against scandal-scarred Republican Rep. Vance McAllister for a spot in the race's December runoff. In the past month, I have seen a shift in Free Republic that makes me wonder if there is a coup d'etat going on. I haven't got a count, but it seems there has been more sex-related posts than in the past months since I started coming here. There have been threads about the gay life style, sex slaves, sex toys, a guy killed after having sex with a horse, numerous porn threads, and more. It is making me sick. I participated in many of the posts because I felt my input was valuable. However, every time I participate, I...

Computer scientists have devised a method of "typing" without a keyboard using clever software that creates words and sentences using eye movements alone. Two Cambridge University researchers have shown that their invention does not result in eye-strain, is just as fast as conventional typing and results in fewer mistakes. David Ward and David MacKay, physicists in the university's Cavendish Laboratory, are making the software freely available in the hope that computer firms will use the idea, which promises to revolutionise technology for the disabled. In a study published today in the journal Nature, the scientists say that the system, which...
