I’ve recently had occasion to think about dating and its attendant rituals for a piece in this magazine, and so my eye was caught, the other week, by an article in the New York Post that suggested that one of the institution’s foremost traditions might be undergoing some change. “Cheap Bros Have Found a New Way to Get Out of Paying for Dates,” the headline read. In the fashion of a modern-day fable, the piece quotes three young women who had gone out with three young men. Each guy paid for his date’s dinner or drinks, as guys who go...

The best thing about urban Millennials is that so many of them seem so utterly incapable of reproducing. These passive, whiny creatures look upon women with a combination of awe, terror, and submission. And Millennial women look back upon them with contempt, their instincts warning that the survival of the species depends upon the seed of that puny man-child standing before them being detoured into a genetic dead-end. These boys – including some conservative ones – can’t even muster the courage to ask a girl out. No wonder our birth rate is dropping through the floor. But I’m here to...

Love at first whiff is the idea behind Smell Dating, a New York matchmaking service that promises to help single people sniff out their perfect match by breathing in the odors from dirty T-shirts. Artist Tega Brain, who teaches at New York's School for Poetic Computation, and Sam Lavigne, an editor and researcher at New York University, created Smell Dating, which they describe as an art project.

Earlier this week Facebook chief executive Mark Zuckerberg made headlines for his response to commenter Darlene Hackemer Loretto who wrote that she encourages her granddaughters to “date the nerd in school [because] he may turn out to be Mark Zuckerberg.†The magnate — and new, first-time father of a daughter — deflected the supposed compliment, suggesting, “Even better would be to encourage them to *be* the nerd in school so they can be the next successful inventor.â€

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah - A billboard for a dating website along SR 201 in West Valley City is getting a bit of attention, with many Utahns saying the website it advertises represents outdated thinking. The giant ad for WhereWhitePeopleMeet.com, between 5600 W. and 7200 S., is turning heads and leaving residents with many unanswered questions. A FOX 13 viewer who wanted to remain anonymous voiced concerns about the dating service that, according to its website, has a main office in North Salt Lake....

There may be no more American thing to do than to bemoan the declining state of everyone younger than you. Even Ben Franklin believed the youths of the 1700s fell short of the generations that had gone before. "The best capacities require cultivation, it being truly with them," Franklin said, "as with the best ground, which unless well tilled and sowed with profitable seed, produces only ranker weeds." A prime catalyst for those fears frequently has been new and evolving technology. In the early 20th century, even bicycles were seen as a tool of immorality, as romantic trysts between young...

eing an alpha female is, for the most part, pretty awesome. I know this because I am one. We’re wildly independent, ferociously driven and we favor passion over tender romanticizing. We’re also incredibly stubborn, hard-headed, opinionated, and can be intimidating or misjudged by men. This makes our dating lives more of a challenge to navigate. We’re not your typical submissive and doting partners, we’re a challenge. For this reason, finding a man who can handle and understand the traits we carry is much harder. These are the real struggles of being an alpha female in the dating world.

They say size doesn't matter. But when it comes to getting the girls, it seems short men really do miss out. Men who are petite of stature have fewer sexual partners than taller men, a study has found. Researchers looked at how people's height and weight affected how many sexual partners they had. While short men had the least number of sexual partners, the researchers were surprised to find that tall men did not always have the best sex lives.

"I know lots of single men," Cara, 26, a resident of Brooklyn, New York, told Mic. "It's just... most are of little or no interest to me as anything other than a hookup." Tired of old ways: The somewhat revolutionary notion that women are actually deciding not to marry is something that wouldn't be possible if the value of marriage itself hadn't changed drastically over the years. "When women's life choices were highly constrained, they had little negotiating power," Pepper Schwartz, a sociology professor at the University of Washington, wrote for CNN. "They had to marry or were seen as...

The dating scene has changed a little since 1727 when spinster Helen Morrison became the first woman to put a lonely hearts ad in a newspaper – and was promptly committed to a lunatic asylum for a month for her audacity. Now it’s no longer taboo to say you’re searching for love: in fact, a major report out tomorrow by relationships-counselling charity Relate reveals that 16 per cent of 25 to 34 year olds met their current partner through online dating. “That number is rising all the time – it’s reached 30 per cent in America,” says Relate counsellor Barbara...

“Please don’t think this is racist but…” That was the disclaimer that an Asian man sent to Rokashi Edwards, 25, a black programmer living in Toronto, before telling him that he would never consider having sex with a black man. Shocked, Edwards tried to push back on the man’s claim that he wasn’t being racist but he ran up against the same obstacle that many gay men of color face in the world of online dating. “It’s just a preference,” he was told. The conversation could go no further.

In the early ‘90s, the Donald said he would ask his ladies to swing by the doctor for an AIDS test before he’d wine and dine them.Future American President Donald J. Trump appears to be a tad germophobic. “One of the curses of American society is the simple act of shaking hands, and the more successful and famous one becomes the worse this terrible custom seems to get,” the 2016 Republican presidential frontrunner wrote in his book The Art of the Comeback, published in 1997. “I happen to be a clean hands freak. I feel much better after I thoroughly...

During a recent study, researchers found that women with a glam look although attract men more easily, men usually don’t trust them.
