I've always held that one of the reasons for the liberal bias that exists in the media is that it isn't recognized as such by its adherents and practitioners. That liberals - specifically media types - in large number exist in blind insularity comes as a surprise to no one - except possibly liberals. That's because they view their positions as straddling the political and cultural middle – the perfect objective journalists. Even seemingly innocuous rudiments - such as which words to choose when writing a story - can unknowingly reveal a deeply buried worldview. On Sunday, the New York...

LINCOLN, Neb. - Safety concerns have forced University of Nebraska-Lincoln officials to cancel plans for William Ayers to speak on campus. Ayers, who founded a group in the late 1960s that claimed responsibility for bombing several government buildings, was to speak Nov. 15. But officials said Friday the university's threat assessment group received e-mails and phone calls over the last day or two that identified safety issues. When asked about details of the concerns, including if they contained threats against Ayers, University spokeswoman Meg Lauerman declined to comment further. "We don't discuss the specifics of any threat assessment on campus,"...

The fringe group also includes a list of heroes. Their heroes consist of Black Panthers, the Black Liberation Army (BLA), cop killers, and terrorists. One such hero is Joanne Chesimard aka Assata Shakur, the aunt of dead rapper Tupac Shakur. Chesimard-Shakur was convicted as an accomplice in the 1973 execution style murder of NJ State Trooper Foerster and the wounding of Trooper Harper. She escaped from prison, eluded capture for many years and fled to Cuba, where she was granted political asylum by Fidel Castro. When Chesimard participated in the murder of Trooper Foerster, she was a member of the...

Video:CNN Finds Extensive Ties Between Barack Obama and ‘Terrorist’ Bill Ayers

Since Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has specifically targeted Barack Obama on the campaign trail for “palling around” with domestic terrorist William Ayers, Obama’s chief advisors seem to be at loss for words. One prominent campaign message man has even lied about Obama’s admiration for a critique written by the former terrorist who conducted despicable acts in his youth, about the juvenile justice system. Obama Spokesman Bill Burton denied Obama ever favorably reviewed Ayers’ 1997 book on the juvenile justice system, sarcastically titled "A Kind and Just Parent” in an interview with Fox News Company’s Megyn Kelly Tuesday. “He...

Weather Underground and Other 60s Radical Groups - History - Excerpt 3 from Law Review Book Although the Department of Justice and the FBI were able to effectively disrupt a number of lethal Vietnam-era terrorist plots—a point frequently overlooked by commentators—their overall efforts against radical groups were closely scrutinized, heavily criticized, intensely challenged by investigative targets, and, in many cases, publicly censured by federal judges. The result was a series of legal reforms that are firmly institutionalized and are now a permanent part of our legal landscape. They make a return to the bad-old-days virtually impossible. This should be reassuring...

Here’s a photo of former Weather Underground terrorist (and friend of Barack Obama) William Ayers in 2001 (when Obama was much older than 8), proudly stepping on a United States flag.

An exchange of letters in late 1994 (links below) between Vartan Gregorian, the President of Brown University, Adele Simmons, President of the MacArthur Foundation, and Bill Ayers, the founder of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, demonstrate that Ayers played a direct personal role in the recruitment of members of the Challenge's board of directors. The Board was chaired by Barack Obama. The Obama campaign recently issued a statement stating that Bill Ayers had "nothing to do with Obama's recruitment to the Board." The campaign contends that the only people involved in the appointment of Obama were Deborah Leff, then president of...

"One of Bill Ayers’ and Bernardine Dohrn’s comrades in the late 60s Students for a Democratic Society was Mike Klonsky. When Dohrn and Ayers moved in one direction toward the violent tactics of the Weather Underground, Klonsky, in the wake of the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia, dropped the pro-Russian communist politics of his parents and became a committed Maoist. As leader of the Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist) in 1977 [not to be confused with Communist Party USA. CPML no longer exists, CPUSA formed decades earlier and is still around-ETL], he travelled to Beijing and was toasted by the senior Beijing leadership....

There is a huge blogswarm going on about this photo, from Chicago Magazine, of Obama's unrepentant terrorist associate, Bill Ayers stomping on the American flag. The photo was taken in 2001, the same time Obama served on the Woods Fund Board with Ayers. This was also the same time that Ayers donated to Obama's campaign. ... many political bloggers are saying it is long past due for Obama to disown his association with this controversial radical. ... It's worthy of recycling this to further probe into Obama's judgment, the one thing he says he should be measured by.

A 2001 photo of William Ayers, an associate of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, shows the former terrorist stepping on an American flag. The photo was taken to promote Ayers’s book, “Fugitive Days” and published by Chicago Mag for their August 2001 issue. As Obama has gained national prominence as a Democratic presidential contender media figures have questioned his relationship with Ayers. Ayers once hosted a fundraiser for Obama and the two have served together on the board of a philanthropic organization. In a nationally televised debate Obama compared his friendship with Ayers to that of conservative Republican Sen. Tom...

During the April 16 debate between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, moderator George Stephanopoulos brought up “a gentleman named William Ayers,” who “was part of the Weather Underground in the 1970s. They bombed the Pentagon, the Capitol, and other buildings. He’s never apologized for that.” Stephanopoulos then asked Obama to explain his relationship with Ayers. Obama’s answer: “The notion that somehow as a consequence of me knowing somebody who engaged in detestable acts 40 years ago, when I was eight years old, somehow reflects on me and my values, doesn’t make much sense, George.” Obama was indeed only eight in...

[Obama friend and associate, William/Bill Ayers, from his own red-communist-star-headed website, calls out Hannity and 'others' to debate communism vs capitalism] April 6, 2008: Imperialism. I’m against it, and if Sean Hannity and others were honest, this is the ground they would fight me on. Capitalism played its role historically and is exhausted as a force for progress: built on exploitation, theft, conquest, war, and racism, capitalism and imperialism must be defeated and a world revolution—a revolution against war and racism and materialism, a revolution based on human solidarity and love, cooperation and the common good —must win. We begin...

Hopeless Captives of the New Iraqi Imperium When Iraq's newly appointed prime minister, Nouri al-Maliki, made the decision to order the release of more than 2500 prisoners from U.S.- and Iraqi-run prisons this week, he must have been worrying over the looming dilemma of his expected U.S. withdrawal next year, which could leave his government with responsibility for an estimated 28,000+ detainees languishing indefinitely without any benefit of an amnesty that usually follows an armistice. Despite the apparent killing of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, an alleged orchestrator of violence in Iraq (itals added), the prospect for Iraq's foreseeable future is one...

MADISON, Wis. - An animal rights activist who faces a potential two-year prison term for freeing thousands of mink from Midwest fur farms says he has no regrets. Peter Daniel Young, 28, told The Associated Press during a jailhouse interview that serving time will be nothing compared to what caged animals suffer. "As bad as it could get, it will never be as bad as it was for those mink," Young said. "I would do it all over again." Prosecutors believe Young and an accomplice were acting on behalf of the Animal Liberation Front when they broke onto mink farms...

Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan is telling his followers that the levees in New Orleans may have been deliberately "blown up" to kill the city's black population. The influential preacher was in Charlotte, North Carolina on Monday, where he detailed his Hurricane Katrina conspiracy theory. "I heard from a very reliable source who saw a 25 foot deep crater under the levee breach," Farrakhan explained. "It may have been blown up to destroy the black part of town and keep the white part dry." Farrakhan didn't say who he thought was behind the plot to blow up New Orleans'...

PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) - New Jersey is using an anti-terrorism law for the first time to try six animal rights activists charged with harassing and vandalizing a company that made use of animals to test its drugs. Prosecutors say the activists, who will stand trial next week, used threats, intimidation and cyber attacks against employees of Huntingdon Life Sciences, a British company with operations in East Millstone, New Jersey, with the intention of driving it out of business. The six, members of a group called Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty (SHAC), are charged under the Animal Enterprise Protection Act, amended in 2002...

SANTA ANA -- A state appeals court has reversed the conviction of a Long Beach man who authorities said was an anarchist who planned to use gas bombs to disrupt an Aryan Nation celebration of Adolf Hitler's birthday nearly three years ago. A three-member panel of the 4th District Court of Appeal found that an Orange County trial court should have allowed Matthew Gordon Lamont to challenge the search of the car in which he was a passenger during the arrest. In the ruling issued Tuesday, the panel found that a passenger -- not just the driver -- has the...
