A traveler from Saudian Arabia was reportedly arrested after arriving at Detroit Metropolitan Airport with a pressure cooker. On Saturday, Hussain Al Kwawahir, who flew from Saudi Arabia through Amsterdam, allegedly told authorities that he was in the U.S. to visit his nephew who attends the University of Toledo. But The Detroit News also claims that he will be arraigned on Monday in federal court for purportedly lying to a Customs and Border Protection Agent about the pressure cooker and for allegedly using an altered passport. When asked about the passport, which had a missing page, Al Kwawahir apparently told...

(CNN) -- The security alert aboard a Northwest Airlines jet Sunday was the result of a "non-serious" incident, and the man questioned in connection with the scare does not appear to be a threat, a law enforcement source said Sunday. The crew of Northwest Flight 253 -- the same Amsterdam, Netherlands-to-Detroit, Michigan flight targeted Friday in what prosecutors called a bomb plot -- reported a "verbally disruptive" passenger Sunday and requested police meet the plane, airline and airport officials told CNN. The man was questioned by police after the plane landed in Detroit early Sunday afternoon. The passenger spent about...

A group of Iraqi Pentagon contractors is suing American Airlines claiming racial discrimination for delaying its flight, but a police report shows that some of the men might have been intoxicated, behaved in a frightening and belligerent manner and scared one family off the plane. The captain of American Airlines Flight 590 from San Diego to Chicago delayed the Aug. 28 takeoff after crew members reported that they "did not feel safe..." The Iraqi men filed the lawsuit last week in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, where they live... The captain did not alert the passengers...

Six Iraqi natives announced in Detroit last week that they are suing American Airlines for “hundreds of thousands of dollars” because they were racially profiled, leaving at least one of the six feeling “violated.” Putting aside the inaccurate charge—racial profiling is defined as the practice of substituting skin color for evidence as grounds for suspicion by law enforcement officials; the men’s skin color was never an issue—the real question to be asked of this scenario is, are groups of Middle Eastern men purposefully behaving suspiciously in airports and on airplanes in an effort to cash in on America’s civil justice...

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Federal investigators are looking into whether baggage handlers at the Syracuse airport caused a 12-inch hole in the fuselage of a Northwest Airlines passenger jet forced to make an emergency landing in Buffalo, N.Y., last month. The Detroit-bound Northwest Airlines Flight 1411 was just 20 minutes into its May 18 journey when the crew heard a loud pop. The Douglas DC-9 experienced a loss of cabin pressure and smoke filled the cockpit. The plane landed safely at the Buffalo airport. A preliminary report by the National Transportation Safety Board does not assess blame or pinpoint the cause...
