One of the pro-Donald Trump fake electors charged in Michigan has agreed to cooperate with state prosecutors in exchange for getting his case dismissed. James Renner, 76, is the first defendant to strike a deal with prosecutors. Attorney General Dana Nessel, a Democrat, charged the group of 16 fake electors earlier this year. Democrats are condemning Republican Sen. Josh Hawley for objecting to certifying the 2020 election results, even though they are guilty of doing the same thing for purely political reasons. On Wednesday, Hawley announced he will object during the Electoral College certification process on Jan. 6, unless an election integrity and voter fraud investigation is called. “I cannot vote to certify the electoral college results on January 6 without raising the fact that some states, particularly Pennsylvania, failed to follow their own state election laws,” Hawley said, noting that some Democrats objected to the elections in 2004 and 2016.

Very high. 2) On Jan. 6, all that is needed is 1 senator (Hawley) and 1 Congressman (Brooks) to bring an objection to an elector slate (almost certainly AZ, since that will be the first contested. 3) The rules are made by the previous congress; the laws already in place bind the procedures. 4) Pence has no authority on his own to accept or reject any slate.
