Hundreds of Americans remain trapped in Yemen and escape routes are dwindling, the U.S. Ambassador to Djibouti said. Various boats have sailed and motored their way into the port and Ambassador Tom Kelly was on deck to meet the most recent arrivals: 200 people including 11 American citizens, all crammed onto an overcrowded fishing boat. In the past two weeks, 150 Americans have fled to Djibouti. Kelly’s staff speaks with every American who arrives in the port.
  • Obama’s One-Man Nuclear Deal

    Wall Street Journal ^ | April 14, 2015
President Obama says he wants Congress to play a role in approving a nuclear deal with Iran, but his every action suggests the opposite. After months of resistance, the White House said Tuesday the President would finally sign a bill requiring a Senate vote on any deal—and why not since it still gives him nearly a free hand. Modern Presidents have typically sought a Congressional majority vote, and usually a two-thirds majority, to ratify a major nuclear agreement. Mr. Obama has maneuvered to make Congress irrelevant.

President Obama will visit Charlotte to talk to about 50 people about families and women in the workplace. Workers have started getting the Spangler Library inside ImaginOn ready for the presidential visit. “We are bringing cooks, we are bringing home decorators. We are bringing people who are working every day,” said Lisa Stone, who started a nonpartisan blog for women called BlogHer.

Remember Jonathan Gruber, the Obamacare architect who as caught on tape boasting how the president had taken advantage of the “stupidity” of American voters to pass his health-care law? Well it seems, Obama is applying the “Gruber Doctrine” once again — this time to foreign policy. The Gruber Doctrine is based on the premise that, in the words of the now infamous MIT professor, “lack of transparency is a huge political advantage” and that the “basic exploitation of the lack of . . . understanding of the American voter” is “really, really critical” for enacting your preferred policies. That is precisely what...
  • 140 Americans Flee Yemen as Country Sinks Deeper Into Chaos

    ABC News ^ | April 13, 2015 | By MOLLY HUNTER
Some 140 Americans fleeing unrest in Yemen have arrived in Djibouti, officials said, but hundreds of others are believed to still remain behind in Yemen. The families in Djibouti are exhausted, getting food and water and will receive "full consular services," authorities said. Americans could be seen smiling, grasping hands with U.S. Embassy staff members in Djibouti after fleeing from Yemen. Last week, more than 50 U.S. citizens filed lawsuits last week against the State Department and Department of Defense for failing to evacuate them.

MONROVIA, Liberia — As bodies littered the streets and the sick lay dying in front of overwhelmed clinics last year, President Obama ordered the largest American intervention ever in a global health crisis, hoping to stem the deadliest Ebola epidemic in history. But after spending hundreds of millions of dollars and deploying nearly 3,000 troops to build Ebola treatment centers, the United States ended up creating facilities
  • US ambassador barred from Prague Castle by Czech president

    BBC News ^ | April 5, 2015
Czech President Milos Zeman has said the US ambassador is not welcome at his Prague Castle residence, reports say. The apparent snub follows remarks by US envoy Andrew Schapiro seen as critical of the president's decision to attend forthcoming World War Two commemorations in Moscow. Several world leaders are boycotting the ceremony over Russia's role in the Ukraine conflict. Mr Zeman is considered more sympathetic to Russia on the issue. The US embassy has declined to address Mr Zeman's comments.
  • More Americans Trust Fox News Than Obama On Climate Change, Poll Finds

    The Huffington Post ^ | April 2, 2015 | By James Gerken
More U.S. adults believe Fox News is a reliable source of information about climate change than believe President Barack Obama is, according to a new poll from St. Leo University. The March poll of 1,016 Americans found that 17 percent trust Fox News on climate change, while only 11 percent trust the president. Twenty-two percent of respondents said they trust print, online and broadcast media outlets, "such as CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN, Associated Press, New York Times." Despite these poll results, Fox News and its hosts and commentators have received far more criticism for the accuracy of their climate change...
  • Obama’s Iran deal falls far short of his own goals

    Washington Post ^ | April 2, 2015 | By Editorial Board
THE “KEY parameters” for an agreement on Iran’s nuclear program released Thursday fall well short of the goals originally set by the Obama administration. None of Iran’s nuclear facilities — including the Fordow center buried under a mountain — will be closed. Not one of the country’s 19,000 centrifuges will be dismantled. Tehran’s existing stockpile of enriched uranium will be “reduced” but not necessarily shipped out of the country. In effect, Iran’s nuclear infrastructure will remain intact, though some of it will be mothballed for 10 years. When the accord lapses, the Islamic Republic will instantly become a threshold nuclear...
  • Obama commutes sentences of 22 people in federal prison

    San Francisco Chronicle ^ | March 31, 2015 | by Darlene Superville
Barack Obama on Tuesday shortened the prison sentences of nearly two dozen drug convicts, including eight serving life in prison, in an act the White House said continues Obama's push to make the justice system fairer by reducing harsh sentences that were handed down under outdated guidelines. The effort could lead Obama to grant clemency more often as his second and final term in office winds down. Neil Eggleston, the White House counsel, said many of the 22 people whose federal sentences will be cut short by Obama's action would already have served their time and paid the debt they...
  • Obamacare Enrollment Split: Subsidies vs. No Subsidies

    Wall Street Journal ^ | March 30, 2015 | By CHRIS JACOBS
Two reports released in the past week demonstrate a potential bifurcation in state insurance exchanges: The insurance marketplaces appear to be attracting a disproportionate share of low-income individuals who qualify for generous federal subsidies, while middle- and higher-income filers have generally eschewed the exchanges. The overall picture presented is one of a bifurcated, or even trifurcated, system of health insurance. Individuals who qualify for very rich insurance subsidies or Medicaid have signed up for coverage, while those who qualify for small or no subsidies have not. It raises two obvious questions: Whether and how the exchanges can succeed long-term with...
  • Homeland Security's Mayorkas should be ousted for Clinton favoritism, 'disgusted' retired cops say

    FOX News Latino ^ | March 30, 2015 | By Bryan Llenas
Two former lead narcotics investigators said they are "disgusted," but not surprised, with the government report finding that Deputy Secretary for Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas inappropriately helped secure visas for foreign investors that benefited his Democrat friends – including Hillary Clinton's youngest brother, Anthony Rodham. Back in 2002, Mayorkas, then a Bill Clinton-appointed Los Angeles U.S. Attorney, was found by a congressional committee to have inappropriately pushed for clemency for convicted drug dealer Carlos Vignali, who happened to be the son of big-time Democratic Party donor Horatio Vignali. Horatio Vignali, an Argentinian immigrant who built a fortune in Los Angeles,...

It highlights the huge gap between Obama’s promise that his progressive, big-government economic policies would jump-start the economy, and the hard reality of America’s complex society and economy. The failure of Obama-economics was highlighted March 28, when the federal government admitted that the economy grew only 2.2 percent in 2014. ... Since 2009, the U.S. population has grown from 305 million to 321 million, including 11 million illegals. ... Even as he doubles down on his high-regulation, high-immigration policies, Obama insists that his top priority is increasing wages. ... But he’s continuing to rapidly add immigrants to the nation’s flooded...

President Barack Obama is teeing off in Florida with a trio of oil and private equity moguls. Obama was joined for his round of golf Sunday by Jim Crane, who owns the Floridian. Crane is a major Democratic donor who also golfed with Obama and Tiger Woods in 2013. Also in Obama's foursome is Milton Carroll. He's on the board of directors of Halliburton, the oil company closely associated with former Republican Vice President Dick Cheney.

The former head of the Defense Intelligence Agency on Sunday described President Obama's Middle East policy as one of "willful ignorance," saying the administration needs a clearer strategy for dealing with conflicts emerging across the region. Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn said during an interview on "Fox News Sunday" that recent developments in the Middle East are moving in a bad direction for the United States, with Iran "clearly on the march" to influence events in a "regional sectarian war." “At the end of the day, we have just this incredible policy confusion — never mind what our strategy is to...

The heads of Arab League countries meeting in Egypt have agreed to create a joint Arab military force. The League has been meeting in Sharm el-Sheikh amid a crisis in Yemen and the threat of jihadists who have made major gains in Iraq, Syria and Libya. However, establishing the make-up and remit of the force could take months, analysts say. A 10-nation, Saudi-led coalition is currently carrying out air strikes against rebels in Yemen.

CARACAS, Venezuela - Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro is readying a gift for President Barack Obama when the two leaders cross paths at a regional summit next month: a petition containing millions of signatures denouncing U.S. aggression. For the past week, Venezuelans have been lining up in plazas, government offices and even prisons to add their signatures to a manifesto against the Obama administration's recent decision to sanction seven Venezuelan officials over human rights abuses during anti-government protests.

The Daily Caller reports Senate Democrats sent a letter to the Health and Human Services (HHS) Department asking for a reprieve from ObamaCare for small businesses scheduled to be brought under its regulatory umbrella in 2016. Apparently, the group fears it will be “particularly harmful and disruptive” to businesses. The Caller reports that the letter was sent March 12 by Democrat Senators Claire McCaskill, Heidi Heitkamp, Chris Coons, Joe Manchin, Joe Donnelly and Jon Tester, and independent Sen. Angus King. They asked for a two-year deferment: Under the law, employers with 51 to 100 employees will be included in the ACA’s definition of small group market starting...

The United States is considering letting Tehran run hundreds of centrifuges at a once-secret, fortified underground bunker in exchange for limits on centrifuge work and research and development at other sites, officials have told The Associated Press. The trade-off would allow Iran to run several hundred of the devices at its Fordo facility, although the Iranians would not be allowed to do work that could lead to an atomic bomb and the site would be subject to international inspections, according to Western officials familiar with details of negotiations now underway. In return, Iran would be required to scale back the...
