    THE LAST CLOSET: The Dark Side of Avalon is a brutal tale of a harrowing childhood. It is the true story of predatory adults preying on the innocence of children without shame, guilt, or remorse. It is an eyewitness account of how high-minded utopian intellectuals, unchecked by law, tradition, religion, or morality, can create a literal Hell on Earth. THE LAST CLOSET is also an inspiring story of survival. It is a powerful testimony to courage, to hope, and to faith. It is the story of Moira Greyland, the only daughter of Marion Zimmer Bradley and convicted child molester Walter...

    A Boise State University professor recently learned what happens when you challenge left-wing social narratives on college campuses. Scott Yenor, a tenured professor, has been under siege on campus after publishing articles with The Heritage Foundation and The Daily Signal about feminism and the transgender movement. In those articles, Yenor explained the similarity in philosophy between the early feminists and modern transgender movement and how they aim at undermining traditional family values. He wrote in a Daily Signal article on Aug. 2:

    Trump gives the Pentagon six months to kick THOUSANDS of transgender service people out of the military if they are deemed 'non-deployable'. A month after he announced a ban on transgender people serving in the military via Twitter, Donald Trump has issued a memo on how the decision is to be implemented. The two-and-a-half-page note says Defense Secretary Jim Mattis must consider a service member's 'deployability' when deciding whether to eject them from the military. That means that if they are unable to serve in a war zone, take part in training or serve on a ship for months, they...

    Long Beach has an annual Tiki Festival that is a small family oriented event but that also gets some pretty good Hawaiian and Polynesian dance groups for entertainment. I dropped by this morning and was surprised and happy to hear Lee Greenwood's "Proud to be an American" playing just as I walked up. One of the Hawaiian dance groups played it as the young ladies did a slow "hula" to the music. It was very well done and the crowd loved it. Just wanted to share a refreshing patriotic moment from a place you would not expect.

    The intense emotions surrounding the 2016 campaign were apparent to me during the last month of the race. I spent those final weeks criss-crossing the country with the CNN #myvote campaign camper, talking to voters about who they would pick and why. Most people my colleagues and I talked to were deeply set in their convictions about their candidate and easily overlooked any shortcomings. I rarely met an undecided voter. At the time, I expected that -- like most previous elections -- passions would eventually ease after the race was called and the country had time to process the results....

    The nursery in Amy Fabbrini and Eric Ziegler's home is filled with unread children's books and unworn baby clothes. A Winnie the Pooh blanket lies untouched inside a crib where a child has never slept. For nearly four years, the Redmond couple has been fighting to prove to the state of Oregon that they are intellectually capable of raising their children. The Department of Human Services has removed both of their boys, saying the parents are too mentally limited to be good parents. Fabbrini, 31, and Ziegler, 38, lost custody of their older son, Christopher, shortly after he was born....

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson told senators on Tuesday that the Palestinian Authority has changed its policy and intends to stop paying the families of terrorists jailed for attacking or killing Israelis. “They have changed that policy and their intent is to cease the payments to the families of those who have committed murder or violence against others,” Tillerson said. “We have been very clear with them that this [practice of paying terrorists] is simply not acceptable to us.” {..snip..}

    The crisis of secularization assaulting both the family and the Church was given a thorough analysis at a meeting of Church and pro-life leaders in Rome last month. Under the theme “The family under attack: protecting parents as primary educators,” the Rome Life Forum, which took place at the Hotel Columbus May 18-19, heard from a variety of speakers including the former founding president of the Pontifical John Paul II University for Studies on Marriage and the Family, Cardinal Carlo Caffarra, the patron of the Knights of Malta, Cardinal Raymond Burke, and the Church historian Roberto de Mattei. We’ve all heard the term “military brat” before. It pertains to those children who grew up in military families. “Brats” wear the name like a badge of honor, often because of the moves, stressors and cultural experiences that make them more resilient than their civilian counterparts.

    Last month, America lost a great defender of freedom, Michael Novak.Novak was committed to rightly ordered liberty and cared deeply about the principles and practices that produce it. His enormous body of work emphasized the cultural prerequisites for political and economic freedom, as he stressed that economic conservativism and social conservatism are indivisible.In the words of Heritage Foundation founder Ed Feulner, “Michael forced those of us trained in the dismal science of economics to explain that we should be more than ‘free to choose’—rather we should be free to make good free choices.”Last year, I was the recipient of the...

    Sens. Tom Cotton and Chuck Schumer reportedly got into an angry confrontation on the Senate floor Friday over Senate Democrats delaying the confirmation of Rep. Mike Pompeo for CIA director, The Weekly Standard reports. Cotton was reportedly irate with Schumer’s delay of the confirmation vote and loudly accosted him on the Senate floor. Schumer retorted that the Senate had never confirmed a CIA director on Inauguration Day, adding that Senate Republicans also did not do so for former President Barack Obama. He continued that Cotton would have known this precedent if he had been in the Senate eight years previously....

    The number of millennials who have not moved out of their parents or grandparents homes has climbed to a 75-year high of 40 percent. The high-water mark for young people “failing to launch” was set during the Great Depression. Its duplication after eight years of Obama Administration policies is seen by some as a poor legacy for the outgoing chief executive. One who doesn’t see it that way is President Obama. “The Republicans do a lot of talking about family values, but it has been my policies that have brought succeeding generations under the same roof,” he boasted. “The whole...

    Parenting magazine Baby & Family has told readers to beware of families who are “inconspicuous” and “cheerful”, as these warning signs indicate they are right wing and thus “dangerous”. Depicted with illustrations featuring solely blonde women and children, the report says ordinary parents must take action against right-wing families and make clear that their ideology has no place in the world. Asserting that the term “right wing” “stirs up anxiety” and brings to mind “burning refugee homes”, skinheads, and the National Socialist Underground (NSU) group who carried out a string of violent attacks on foreign people, Baby & Family notes...

    Today (August 17) the Vatican announced that by motu proprio (his own initiative), Francis has formally erected the new “super-dicastery” of the Pontifical Council for the Laity, the Family and Life (PCLFL), effective September 1. The new dicastery will absorb (and thus abolish) the Pontifical Councils for the Family and the Laity and will also overlap the function of the still-existing Pontifical Academy for Life, one of whose members, the German philosopher Josef Siefert, published a devastating critique of the disastrous Amoris Laetitia, calling upon Francis to correct its errors against the Faith. Francis has appointed as head of the...

    These are the kinds of things you cannot make up. A report from the Daily Mail documents the “March of the Male Mums” while an article on Slate.com declares, “There is plainly no one type of body that we could accurately label a ‘male body.’”These are but the latest examples of the all-out war on gender distinctions, and one can only wonder what is coming next.When it comes to male mothers, Thomas Beatie, better known as “the pregnant man,” was the pioneer. “Thomas” was a former beauty queen who had her breasts cut off but left her reproductive organs intact,...

    Western civilisation is on the brink of a collapse like that of ancient Rome because the modern generation does not want the responsibility of bringing up children, the former Chief Rabbi Lord Sacks has warned. ... ultimately, he said, European society as we know it “will die” because of the demographic crisis. And mass immigration is not a solution because of problems integrating new arrivals into existing society. "Europe is going to die because of this because Europe can only maintain its population by unprecedented levels of immigration" - Lord Sacks This makes him one of only a handful of...

    Annapolis Update #4 - Outlook for Maryland Businesses There is some truly bad legislation coming through the Maryland General Assembly which will have a huge negative effect on businesses presently in the State and on businesses considering moving here. 1. HB 610 Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction Act - Reauthorization has passed the House and is now in the Senate. These greenhouse gas initiatives will continue to punish conventional utility producers (coal and natural gas), forcing them to pay fines for carbon output. These fines will be passed on to the rate payers -- residential and commercial -- which will drive...
