BOSTON – Prior to the the series opener against the Orioles, the Red Sox held a moment of silence for the victims of the mass shooting in Orlando over the weekend. A rainbow flag hung alongside the American flag at half-mast during the game and the club. The Red Sox have also committed to donating proceeds from the 50/50 raffle to victims and their families of the Pulse nightclub tragegy through the Florida Disaster Fund activated by Florida Governor Rick Scott.

Two men recently decided to steal an American flag from the front of a house in Campbell, California. Flags are flying at half-staff outside state buildings and grounds in Georgia in memory of a student stabbed to death on the campus of Fort Valley State University. Former student Joseph Anthony Scott Jr. faces charges including murder in the Tuesday killing of 19-year-old freshman Donnell Phelps.
