EUGENE, Ore. — American flags that have been placed on overpasses along I-5 are now being removed. The Oregon Department of Transportation says they need to be removed due to safety concerns. President Biden on Wednesday ordered flags outside government buildings be flown at half-staff to honor the late Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.), who died on Tuesday at the age of 82. A memorial placed in Riverside to honor the 13 American service members who were killed in a suicide bombing at the Kabul airport as the U.S. exited Afghanistan late last month was found vandalized on Labor Day, police said Tuesday. Yesterday was Memorial Day. And about 9:00 AM yesterday I went out to my front yard and unfurled my American flag. Then I looked up and down my street. There was only one other house that had a flag out. I live in a blue-collar, working-class Democrat area. No hippies. More people here voted for Trump than they will admit. Everybody keeps their yards nice and neat. Middle America. But out of 20 houses, only two had flags out in Memorial Day. Why?
