Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman John Fogerty has hit President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign with a cease and desist order after the band’s classic song, “Fortunate Son” was played at the president’s campaign rallies. “He is using my words and my voice to portray a message that I do not endorse. Therefore, I am issuing a ‘cease and desist’ order,” said Fogerty in a tweet on Friday.

Did you guys catch that? I like the song, but thought that the context was demeaning considering the "theme" of the pregame is a salute to veterans and serving members of the armed forces. That song has a meaning them and now. And with the purposeful ending over and over. What a jerk!

RATHER STAYS HOME; EXECUTIVES SPLIT; MOONVES LOOKS TOWARDS FUTURE *Exclusive** CBSNEWS veteran Don Hewitt called Dan Rather's disappearance from Monday's Evening News "really stupid" during a damage control meeting on Monday, sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT. One top source inside the CBS Broadcast Center claimed Rather was told to stay off the air on Monday, as a form of punishment! Chief Washington Correspondent Bob Schieffer was called in to anchor the damaged ship. CBS staffers were shocked Monday when CBS president Les Moonves suddenly tied Rather's upcoming resignation to the phony document flap, a departure from CBS's official storyline. Moonves...

A spit-take scoop from USA Today: CBS arranged for a confidential source to talk with Joe Lockhart, a top aide to Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry, after the source provided the network with the now-disputed documents about President Bush's service in the Texas National Guard. Lockhart, the former press secretary to President Clinton, said a female producer talked to him about the 60 Minutes program a few days before it aired on Sept. 8. She gave Lockhart a telephone number and asked him to call Bill Burkett, a former Texas National Guard officer who gave CBS the documents. Lockhart couldn't...

Every time I hear about how W is a "Fortunate Son", I want to scream. I just wish that the Alphabet soup media, the DNC, and whom ever else keeps talking up these points would just look into their own closets for skeletons. Here is one I found about the darling of the Demoncrats, the most verbal and abusive toward W. Yes, I am talking about the master driver Edward M. Kennedy - After his expulsion from Harvard, Teddy returned to Hyannis Port where he would sit brooding, sometimes for hours. - Finally, he enlisted in the Army. - Not...

We normally shy away from the world of politics, but we get variations of this kind of question regularly and feel it necessary to clarify some information. We'll do our best to avoid bringing our own political biases into this article. At the very least, we'll attempt to remain as neutral and objective as Michael Moore does in his ironically dubbed "documentary" Fahrenheit 9/1 George W. Bush's military service began in 1968 when he enlisted in the Texas Air National Guard after graduating with a bachelor's degree in history from Yale University. The aircraft that he was ultimately trained to...

Dan Rather may have trouble finding supporters these days, but he’s always got one at 430 S. Capitol St. That’s the address of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), where on Tuesday DNC chairman Terry McAuliffe called in the press to unveil what he called “Operation: Fortunate Son.” A prominent part of McAuliffe’s new campaign is a video that details the ways in which George W. Bush allegedly received preferential treatment in the Texas Air National Guard. It’s the standard anti-Bush line. “Where was he?” the narrator asks of the future president. “And why did he miss his physical? This son...

Left-Wing Allegations and Fraudulent Documents Response to DNC Video “Fortunate Son” (NOTE: This is Colonel Wambough's attendum to his article posted here on FREE REPUBLIC: BUSH'S HONORABLE AIR NATIONAL GUARD SERVICE) DNC - Kerry Campaign – CBS 60 Minutes Left-Wing Allegations and Fraudulent Documents Response to DNC Video “Fortunate Son The Democrat National Committee (DNC), the Kerry Campaign, CBS 60 Minutes and their liberal media supporters have launched the fifth major attack on President Bush’s service in the Air National Guard (ANG). The purpose of this attack is to enhance Kerry’s election prospects by dishonoring President Bush’s service in the...

I now have in possession (and won't reveal my source) a copy of the NEW and improved DNC movie "Fortunate Son: Redeux". It is fantastic and tells the REAL story, it is a MUST SEE for Freepers and other citizens seeking the truth. Problem is, it is in QuickTime format and about 11.2 MB and I have no idea how to make it accessable. I cannot upload it to my website because of business/copyright concerns. Any ideas will be greatly welcome, it is worth it, trust me.

The Democratic National Committee released a new video today that implies President Bush has lied about his National Guard duty and therefore is not a trustworthy leader. The video, entitled "Fortunate Son," begins with footage of troops in Vietnam, saying some people "chose war, others chose different paths" – an obvious reference to John Kerry's service in Southeast Asia. Next the three-minute ad suggests Bush "pulled strings" to get into the Guard, thus avoiding Vietnam service. As evidence, the video features part of an interview by CBS News' Dan Rather with former Texas Lt. Gov. Ben Barnes, in which the...

Something to Yak About – Mr. McAuliffe, Have You No Shame?Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe has a well-earned reputation for slash and burn, scorched-earth politics, but has he sunk to unprecedented lows? McAuliffe has once again actively taken to attacking the president’s military service and his honorable discharge. All this forces us to ask one question of Terry McAuliffe: Sir, have you no shame? The answer seems apparent. Slime Time Live That’s not our title, that’s what Newsweek Magazine has titled the latest piece by Howard Fineman and Michael Isikoff. The piece leads with Kerry campaign bigwig Mary...

The DNC has nicknamed its effort "Operation Fortunate Son" after a Creedence Clearwater Revival anti-war anthem from the 1960s. The song speaks of the privileged few, "born silver spoon in hand," who send others to war.

Since 2000, Fortunate Son: George W. Bush and the Making of an American President has been the most talked-about Bush biography, weathering a fierce storm of controversy and suppression. After original publisher St. Martin’s Press received threats from Bush campaign lawyers, and saw their author destroyed in public, they withdrew their edition of 70,000 from stores with promises to burn them. Soft Skull republished the book, but ran into corporate media (like 60 Minutes, and media "watchdog" Brill’s Content) intent on attacking the author. A Texas lawsuit shut down distribution of this critical, fair, revealing biography. Hatfield’s life became the...

It is forgotten now that a book published in 1999 charged, among other things, that George W. Bush was arrested for cocaine possession in the early 1970s and the bust was covered up through the influence of his father. The charge was made in Fortunate Son, which briefly made the best-seller lists and sparked a flurry of press interest before lawyers for Bush threatened a lawsuit and it was revealed that the book's author, James Howard Hatfield, had served five years in prison after being convicted of attempted murder. Bush never precisely denied the charge, nor did he need to:...
